All About the Scarpa Drago Climbing Shoes Review

Guest by Brandon Villatoro (Travel Experta’s son)

After tons of research, and watching every review under the sun, I finally decided on the Scarpa Drago climbing shoes.  It’s an aggressive performance shoe that is good for hard bouldering and sport climbing.

It has an aggressive fit, and it is highly asymmetric. Supported by pcb active randing which helps keep the downturned shape and gives support and directs power to the toe box.

The rubber used for the bottom of the shoe is Xs Grip 2 rubber and has no midsole. It has a very large toe patch which is great for toe hooking. The dragos is probably known for their large and useful toe patch. It is very easy to notice if someone is using a Drago because of the bright yellow.

My Take On the Scarpa Drago Climbing Shoe

In my experience, I think that the dragos is a perfect shoe for slabs and like walking on volumes. It is very good for smearing, heel hooks, and toe hooks, but they are not the best shoe for edging.

They are still good for edging in small footholds but if you are a beginner, and you don’t have a very strong foot I wouldn’t recommend this shoe. The shoe still performs well when edging, but if you are looking for a really good edging shoe, I would recommend the La Sportiva Miura or the Scarpa Instinct VS.

It is a very comfortable shoe, and it is becoming more and more popular in competitions because you don’t know what type of routes you will get, and this shoe is great on everything, and it is especially on volumes which are becoming more and more popular in competitions.
