Guatemala as a Cruise Destination

Guatemala, a small Central American country is home to an insane amount of ruins of ancient Mayan Cities, extensive jungles filled with exotic wildlife, including many endangered species. As if that wasn’t enough it has one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, enormous caves and colorful rivers. In the middle of all that you can find 4 alive and colorful cultures (Maya, Xinca, Garifuna and the Mestizos).

With all those beauties it’s impossible not the best idea to skit it when traveling along Central America. A great way of doing this is by taking a cruise along the pacific coast of the region. In Guatemala cruises stop at Puerto Quetzal in a place called Marina Pez Vela.

This is a place offers travelers a warm welcome with a taste of the predominant Mayan culture. It all starts at the dock where visitors are greeted. The ranch offers shops with local handcrafts, a restaurant, bar, jade museum, cultural shows, parking and bathroom facilities, money exchange, internet and international calls.

From this place you can make your way to the main destinations of the country, 15 min from the port you find the main beaches of the country; just a couple of hours away you find the last true colonial city of Central America, Antigua, the metropolitan capital of the country, Guatemala City.

If you like the idea of love cruising along the coast of Central America or anywhere in the world, there are services out there like Vacation Smart International that offer lower prices.
