Wakeboarding: If you’re seeking a more extreme form of watersport, then wakeboarding might be for you. Wakeboarding is similar to water skiing but instead of a tow rope, four or five people are pushing along behind a boat at high speeds. The rider “rides” on top of these waves created by their teammates’ boats and attempts stunts while remaining connected by an elastic rope attached between their legs and waistband (for safety reasons). A great place for wakeboarders is Lake Hume near Canberra where many rental outfits offer instructors who will help teach newbies how to ride safely.
Surfing: Known worldwide as one of the best surfing regions in existence, Australia offers both beginner and advanced surfers alike access to hundreds if not thousands (!) of different surf breaks along its coastlines all year round. Whether you prefer beach breaks or reef breaks there’s surely something for everyone here! Just make sure not to go during cyclone season when storms tend not only to cause dangerous conditions but also damage infrastructure such as jetties which could prevent access during those times…
