Pet CBD On A Flight

When in an unfamiliar environment, some pets, especially cats and dogs suffer from stress and anxiety. This forces their owners to be prepared before traveling, and this might include having to bring CBD oils for their pets.

However, most pet owners find themselves in unfamiliar territories especially when trying to find out whether they are allowed to bring CBD oil with them on a flight. Different regions and countries might have different rules and guidelines, something that even confuses pet owners more.

So, Can You Bring Pet CBD on a Flight?

Observing CBD oil dosage for dogs is very important. You might want to give CBD to your dog at a particular time when you are already on the flight or maybe immediately after landing to make sure that the right dosage is administered. This makes sense when taking CBD on a flight.

So, yes, you can bring pet CBD on a flight. It is even legal to transport it over different states in the United States of America and over most countries in the world. However, it has to be derived from hemp.

In addition to being derived from hemp, the United States requires that the CBD you bring on a flight should contain no more than 0.3% THC. Observing these two conditions will not only allow you to bring your pet CBD on a flight but also a bus, train, or any other automobile.

Unfortunately, different countries have different rules governing CBD and other medications for pets and even human beings. If you are traveling out of the United States, make sure to check the regulations of the country you are going to.

American Transport Security Administration (TSA) Rules

As mentioned above, you need to make sure that your pet’s CBD is derived from hemp. This is because TSA rules might be confusing. TSA states that

“Possession of marijuana and cannabis-infused products, such as Cannabidiol (CBD) oil, is illegal under federal law. TSA officers are required to report any suspected violations of law, including possession of marijuana and cannabis-infused products.

TSA’s screening procedures are focused on security and are designed to detect potential threats to aviation and passengers.

Accordingly, TSA security officers do not search for marijuana or other illegal drugs, but in the event, a substance that appears to be marijuana or a cannabis infused product is observed during security screening, TSA will refer the matter to a law enforcement officer.”

We also have CBD oil derived from cannabis. This is the reason why we said that you need to make sure that your pet’s CBD oil is derived from hemp. In case you bring the one derived from cannabis on a flight, you will be violating the law.

Simple Tips To Follow

Have Ready Documentation

To ensure that you avoid TSA security mistakes, you need to come with documentation.

You can bring order information, website information, lab certificates, or any information from the company that sold you the CBD oil. Make sure that the information indicates clearly what your CBD is derived from and has not more than 0.3% THC.

Follow Guidelines From TSA

Now that you are sure that your CBD oil is derived from hemp and has less than 0.3% hemp, is there anything else you should check?

Well, TSA has many other guidelines governing traveling, with one of them regulating traveling with liquids. You should make sure that the bottle with your CBD oil is below 3 fluid ounces.

Additionally, do not pack the CBD in your luggage. The best option is to use a carry-on where you keep the CBD together with all its documentation.

Always Ask For Guidance

If you happen to find yourself in a situation where you are in doubt or are not sure whether what you have or what you are carrying is legal or not, do not hide it.

The best thing is to communicate with the airline staff and ask any questions that you might have. Ensure that they have made everything clear to you to avoid getting into trouble with the authorities and to make traveling with your pet safe and fun.

In conclusion, CBD oil is important when it comes to the health of our pets. We, however, have to make sure that we are administering the right dosage at all times.
