If you want some fun things to do in Las Vegas, you should visit the Sport Center. The Sport Center of Las Vegas features a 37-foot Rockwall with 5 levels that begin from beginner and end in advanced. If you aren’t interested in rock climbing, you can visit the 93,000 soiree foot basketball court, go-karts, indoor play area, and outdoor batting cages.
Red Rock Canyon
The Red Rock Canyon is a 197,000-acre mountainous area that resides in the Mojave Desert. Its diverse terrain makes it the perfect place for anyone interested in bouldering, but its popularity may make it difficult to actually climb for yourself. You can access shuttles that will drop you off at most of the outdoor climbing conservatories at various hotels.
Nevada Climbing Centers
A 6,200 square foot building with 27 top rope walls and a 45-degree inverted climb, the Nevada Climbing Center has some impressive climbing apparatuses. The center features 7,500 square feet of climbing and 200 routes, including a bouldering area with new flooring. All levels and ages are welcome, but be sure to make a reservation before arriving.
Mescalito South, Cat in the Hat
Named after the character from the Dr. Seuss book, the Cat in the Hat is an approachable climbing spot for anyone new to the sport. It’s located close to the Red Rock Canyon, which makes this cliff accessible and affordable. Due to the giant belay ledges, big cracks, and simple repels, most children and adults can climb this piece of rock with little issues.
Red Rock Climbing Center
Named after the famous Red Rock Canyon and designed by Doug Englekirk and Tony Yaniro, this center featured over 8,000 square feet of climbing walls. Climbers will also experience 1,000 square feet of radical overhangs and roof roots that will challenge advanced scalers. There are even walls that help develop your strength and stamina long-term.
Mescalito North, Dark Shadows
Taking around 2-3 hours to finish, the Dark Shadows is a route comprising 4 pitches. Filled with sleek walls, small divots, and dark stone, you should only attempt this beauty if you have a lot of guts and skill. It’s an exciting option if you don’t wish to climb the Red Rock Canyon, or the location is too busy to make a decent attempt.
The Refuge Climbing and Fitness
Refuge Climbing and Fitness is an indoor rock climbing facility that measures over 11,000 square feet. The owners change up the bouldering routes frequently to keep the experience fresh for consistent climbers. The centre also holds Summer Climbing Camps, family classes, birthday parties, and bouldering classes weekly. There is also a fitness area with weights and cardio gear.
Dream of Wild Turkeys, Black Velvet Canyon
Be aware: the faint of heart shouldn’t attempt the Dream of Wild Turkeys. This enormous canyon takes 4 hours to complete and can be difficult for experienced climbers. With over 11 pitches and a thousand feet of diverse terrain, you’ll need to give it your all to reach the top. You can find the Black Velvet Canyon right beside the Red Rock Canyon.
