Use the right tools to speed up the simple processes
One of the main issues that crop up during photo editing is getting the workflow right. Sometimes editing even a couple of pictures can take hours and hours; you need to open, edit and save the photos many times, and it can often become a huge pain. Adobe Camera Raw and Lightroom have simplified the entire process by providing multiple shortcut keys. For instance, ctrl+shift+c or cmd+c can be used for copying, ctrl+shift+v or cmd+v can be used for pasting and there are many more. The features in all such software can save you plenty of time and bring your workflow in good order.
Effective usage of camera raw filter
Software like Photoshop CC provides you the option of using the camera raw interface. You can even opt for simple, fast layer editing in Photoshop. All you’re required to do is select the concerned layer and then choose Filter > Camera Raw Filter to get the desired effect.
You can fine-tune your pictures anytime by returning to the camera raw filter whenever needed. Simply convert the concerned layer into a Smart object (by implementing Filter > Convert for Smart Filters) first. Doing so will prevent any unintended editing.
Get acquainted with the lens and camera adjustments
It would be best if you could start by learning about some Lightroom and ACR’s panels prior to making any basic adjustments. For instance, before you make any major changes to the contrast and color, you must pay attention to camera calibration panel first.
It’s also advisable to check out ‘Enable Lens Profile Connections’ feature and the ‘Lens Corrections’ tab. It’s all the more important if you like using wide-angle lenses. In that case, making automatic lens adjustments can push some image areas out of the frame. You must check all these things prior to cropping.

Make effective use of different shortcuts
Using shortcuts not only saves you plenty of time, but also gives you with a better hold on the software. For instance, use of zooming, one of the most frequently used tools during photo editing, can be simplified a great deal by just pressing and holding onto the ‘H’ tab. This command creates an instant zoom in Photoshop. Another useful shortcut is holding down the space bar, which temporarily switches you to the hand tool, enabling you to drag the image around and verify other areas for details.
Bring more vividness to the skies!
Effectively using the HSL option in Lightroom or Adobe Camera Raw allows you to bring about a significant boost in the contrast between a cloudy and a clear blue sky. However, you must be careful as overusing it can cause the clouds’ edges and other objects intrude into the sky.
