Top Things to Do on the East Coast of the USA

Weekend getaways are underrated. I may be biased because I don’t mind jumping in the car and driving from sun up to sundown. There’s something special about enjoying time in the car, and traveling to a destination that you may be at for just a day or two before returning to your hectic lifestyle. Two of my favorite areas to visit and Things to Do on the East Coast of the United States. Look at this list of things to do on the East Coast.

And these are the perfect excuses to get out of the house when things get a little crazy in life.

Florida is Perfect

I love a weekend in Florida. The beautiful beaches, great food, and things to explore make the state a perfect choice for travelers. You might not be able to drive to Florida in any respectable amount of time unless you’re in the following states:

  • Georgia
  • Alabama

You can get there in eight hours or so from North Carolina and even less time from South Carolina. People on the border of Tennessee and Georgia can also get to Northern Florida in a respectable amount of time.

But if you have a small budget, you can also find direct flights to Florida for cheap.

Allegiant is a great choice, and the prices are very cheap. You’ll need to be flexible here because they usually only fly out and in a few days per week, but you can often find Friday departures and Monday returns.

You can fly from Ohio to Florida one-way for $37, or from North Carolina to Florida for $43 one-way or slightly more, depending on where you plan to fly into. There are a lot of great flights on this no-frills airline, and it’s cheap.

Montreal, Quebec

Montreal, Quebec is easy to get to for people in the Northeast, Chicago, and Washington D.C. If your home is under repairs, and you’ve finally had success finding a certified electrician that will keep your power out for a few days, a three-day weekend in Montreal may be in order.

The European (yes, European) flair is alive and well in Montreal along with delightful French cuisine and a vibrant indie music scene.

Visiting before May means you’ll be able to enjoy a lot of deals, but the downside is that the weather is colder this time of year.

MTL has a great deal in the winter, perfect for a getaway: 50% off your second night.

This offer, which is often available in the winter, provides you with 50% off your second night at hotels and a coupon book with hundreds of dollars of discounts. And there are great hotels participating, such as:

  • Hyatt Regency
  • Loews Hotel Vogue
  • Ritz-Carlton
  • Hotel Travelodge
  • Hotel Monville

And there are dozens of others. You won’t find cheaper prices in Montreal.

There is so much to do and explore around your local area, too. Winter months and off-season months are always cheaper, but that doesn’t mean you have to choose these months. If you’re going to visit touristy areas, you’ll need to choose your time carefully. Great deals are always available when there’s a lull in the season.

And if you’re feeling adventurous, a trip to a big city is in order, as: Chicago, Boston, and New York City are always go-to options.
