Most people, when they think about Miami, they immediately think of themselves lounging around on one of the gorgeous beachfront hotels. The place is heaven looking for those searching for luxury and relaxation, as well as partying. However, if you take the trouble of traveling to a place, chances are that you don’t just want to spend a whole week being lazy at the beach.
There are many other things to do in Miami than just lounging around at some beach. Miami is also has a vibrant cultural scene and is home to buildings with amazing architecture. out of your vacation, you should put the following activities on your to-do list.
Things To Do In Miami Other Than Beach Bumming
The first thing you should do is to get a car rental in Miami. The city is large and public transport isn’t the most indicated for traveling around in a relaxed way. Plus you get the schedule freedom and privacy of having your own car.
1. Explore South Beach
This is a cool place to go for a good meal, to ho hiking along the long strip while looking at stores and for enjoying some partying. There is also a great mall, museums, a boardwalk, and most importantly the art deco district. South beach alone can represent a couple of days of exploring and fun.
2. Visit a few Animals on Jungle Island
This is basically a zoo that is located on its own island. Aside from animal exhibits, interactive attractions here you get to carry some of the animals and it’s Japanese garden, you get to experience a Children’s Museum. It is located only a short drive away from Miami Beach.
3. Walk Around Vizcaya Museum & Gardens
This is a huge and stunning Italian Renaissance-style villa that was built in the early 20th century. The Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is almost like entering a wonderland for adults. The building aside from having huge gardens to walk through is filled with decorative works from the 16th to 19th centuries.
4. Sample Miami’s Craft Beer at Wynwood Brewing Company
This was the first craft brewery to ever open its doors in Miami. Its success prompted the opening of many more brew houses in the area. to open nearby in Wynwood and beyond. But a visit to this unassuming warehouse with a humble taproom and lone food truck in the outskirts of the colorful neighborhood is still a must. They have beers like Wynwood Brewing’s flavor-packed blonde ale and La Rubia.
5. Experience What Miami Design District Has to Offer
This area is known for being the hub for vanguard architecture, fashion, and art. It is also a place to visit if you are into shopping, exploring art galleries, free museums, and St Roch Market, which is a design district food hall. This is definitely one of my favorite places in Miami.
6. Admire the Stunning Murals of Wynwood
Wynwood was once little more than a dull industrial neighborhood. With time, locals turned it into a famous place through artistic graffiti, street art, boutiques with unique clothes, out of the ordinary bars, art galleries, and restaurants with some amazing options. I’d suggest taking at least a full day to explore this area.
As you can see, most of the options that I mentioned above offer way more than just one place, activity or attraction. Rent a car in Miami and set off on some of the most amazing adventures that the area has for travelers.
