It is also a bit stress full to have to find places that cater to everyone’s tastes and needs.Five things to do in Jamaica according to my family. But keep in mind that hitting the beach is given,so I won’t mention it as part of the list.
As a mother who has traveled with her two boys since they were born, I have had plenty of experience at it and know that reading people’s lists of their favorite adventures can be extremely helpful. Especially because businesses don’t always describe the experiences that they offer properly.
So, here is a list of five of the best things to do in Jamaica according to my family. But keep in mind that hitting the beach is given, so I won’t mention it as part of the list.
Top 5 Things to Do in Jamaica
1. Yaaman Adventure Park
Adventure lovers will love this amazing park where you can experience anything from Shore excursions in Jamaica to mud buggies and tractor rides. They offer six tours and tons of combinations of all of them.
Personally, I think that getting the packages is a better idea, it will save you money and ensures a day full of adventures for all ages.
2. Zipline / Canopy Tour at Mystic Mountain
Ok, here is another one for adventurers and one that my family always try when available on the places we travel to. Jamaica is filled with dense, lush rain forests that compete in beauty with beaches.
Mystic Mountain is located near the town of Ocho Rios. They have small equipment that fits kids perfectly (unlike other companies that try to adjust adult equipment on kids). Plus, by the time you are done flying over the forest canopy you can enjoy their pool, see their birds, and have lunch without having to leave the place.
3. Columbus Park Museum
This is the third one on the list that is located near Ocho Rios. so it is safe to say that this was our favorite area. Columbus Park Museum is on the very spot where Christopher Columbus first set foot in Jamaica in the 16th century. It is a small open-air museum.
This is a great place to learn about what happened during that time and about the indigenous Tainos people (or Arawaks). However, if your kids are under 7 they might not be able to pay enough attention and really take in what the place is all about. On the other hand, strollers are allowed in, and the place is enough, so visiting with small kids quickly is also possible.
4. Appleton Estate Rum Factory Tour
You can’t visit Jamaica without learning all about Rum and tasting some of the finest around. an, even though kids can’t take part of the tasting portion, the wlthrough or the rum making process is something that everyone can enjoy. Mainly because guides are lively and entertaining.
Keep in mind that this activity requires reservations in advance.
5. Bob Marley Museum
Another one you can’t miss while in Jamaica if you want to learn about their culture and history. This museum isn’t only about Bob Marley but about reggae too. so even if your kids haven’t heard their music, they will get a chance to learn about a new musical style for them.
The Bob Marley Museum explores reggae music and the life of one of the most inspirational reggae singers that ever lived, Bob Marley.
So, which one of these Activities in Jamaica with kids sounds like the perfect one for your family?
