Going out abroad is one of the best parts of travelling, right? You got the different city, different energy, different music, and even a basic cocktail feels more exciting because it’s not being sipped in the same old place. Oh, and it’s like standing in lines for clubs isn’t so bad either, basically, all the stuff that you’d hate from home is more tolerated once you start traveling abroad.
But with that part said here, it’s also true that there are more than enough real, awful stories of tourists having a normal night out, just trying to have fun, and something goes wrong. This isn’t to scare you or anything, but it doesn’t matter where you are; you need to stay vigilant. Honestly, being in an unfamiliar place puts you in a vulnerable situation that bad people are willing to take advantage of, especially if you’re a woman.
But of course, you can still have a great time while exploring the nightlife, it’s just how you go about it, really.

Have a Loose Plan so the Night Doesn’t Become Random Decisions
And yes, it’s honestly as simplistic as this, too. So, a lot of bad nights happen when the plan is “Let’s just walk around and see.” That sounds fun until it turns into wandering, following crowds, and ending up somewhere purely because it’s loud and open. If you’ve been to enough tourist districts, yes, that’s how you can tell a bar or nightclub is for tourists.
Well, that, and if it’s just in a busy touristy place, that too. But anyway, that’s when people get stuck in a place they don’t even like, or someone gets pressured into something, and the whole vibe shifts. But really, just have a loose enough plan, maybe look at Google Reviews first for a general idea of what could or should happen (and if you want to play it extra safe, tell someone where you’re going, like a friend back home).
Maybe choose one bar that you researched or a gentlemen’s club nightlife that you looked at on Google reviews, a restaurant, a lounge, or whatever else. But have one or two ideas of where to go and research them first.
Just Keep the Drink Situation Normal Smart
Both men and women of any age can be affected by this. You could go anywhere and be at risk of this, hence why you need to stay vigilant. It’s the basic stuff to remember, like you shouldn’t leave drinks unattended. Don’t accept open drinks from strangers. If something tastes off or feels way stronger than expected, it’s fine to stop drinking it. No need to make a big thing of it. And maybe just try and avoid getting drunk or even tipsy, that’ll help a lot too.
Don’t Follow Random People to “a Better Place”
Yes, that’s literally a thing some people do. Someone outside a bar says there’s a better spot, a cheaper spot, a more exclusive spot. Yeah sure. Sometimes it’s harmless, but it’s also a classic setup in a lot of tourist areas. Even if you’re chatting with someone in the bar, still don’t do it, because who knows what could happen to you.
