Planning a Surprise Trip for Your Partner? Make It Perfect!

A 2012 survey conducted by the U.S. Travel Association found that couples who travel together have happier and healthier romantic relationships. They tend to be more satisfied in their partnership and enjoy a higher level of romance when compared to those who don’t.

That’s why I’m going to let you know how to plan a surprise trip for your partner.

The three key findings of the study were:

1.     Traveling together benefits relationships in the long term.

2.     Traveling together helps to maintain and strengthen relationships.

3.     Traveling together sparks intimacy and romance.

Even if you love your partner and you love your life together, it’s surprisingly easy to get into a rut. Before you know it, your life stops being blissful and starts getting boring. That’s why it’s a good idea to take a break every once in a while and splurge on a luxurious treat for yourself and your significant other.

There are many romantic getaways designed especially with couples in mind, in a range of destinations, and at a range of prices. However, unless your significant other is a total camping fanatic, a romantic getaway isn’t the moment for economizing. A trip that you organize for your partner needs to be extravagantly luxurious.

You need to consider something like Luxury Villa Rentals to provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Planning a Surprise Trip for Your Partner

One thing that can be even more indulgent than just taking a trip to a romantic getaway is planning a surprise trip for your significant other. When you give somebody a gift, half the magic comes from the surprise factor. You wrap the present up in fancy paper to delay the moment when the gift is revealed.

Sometimes you even wrap the gift in more than one layer so that when the gift recipient thinks they’ve reached the gift, they have to delay their gratification while they remove even more layers.

Similarly, even though planning a trip with your significant other is fun, it can be even more fun if you surprise your partner with a fully planned trip. Even better, when you plan the trip without your partner’s knowledge, s/he gets to just enjoy the trip without having to do any of the stressful planning and organizing.Related Read: 10 Couple Getaways in the SouthPlanning Steps

Of course, when you plan a surprise trip for both of you, you have to do twice as much work. While few things are more exciting than a successful surprise trip, few things are worse than trying to have a romantic getaway while everything keeps going wrong around you.

To keep the process running smoothly, some of the things you might need to think about include the following:

  • Start planning early

Starting early is crucial to all successful surprises. If you’re panicking at the last minute, trying to sort out canceled flights, or mistakes with your room bookings, there’s virtually no chance that your partner will fail to notice something going on.

  • Check your partner’s schedule

This is probably the most difficult thing to do without your partner getting wise to your plan, but it’s essential. Unless s/he has something like scheduled time off coming up, you might even want to delay finalizing the dates of your trip until the last moment and then consult your partner about the timing.

Otherwise, your partner’s work colleagues may be able to help you find the time when s/he can get away from work.

  • Enlist helpers

Since a surprise trip is such a romantic gesture to make for your partner, everyone will probably get excited about helping to ensure everything goes smoothly. Friends and colleagues probably wouldn’t even mind something like making a trip to the airport to drop off the luggage in secret.

  • Plan an itinerary

When you plan a surprise trip, the responsibility is on you to ensure the time passes neither too fast nor too slowly. The best way to do this is to plan activities to do each day so that you never have to worry about your partner feeling bored. However, be sure not to overdo it. Remember to allow enough time for plenty of relaxation and get where you need to go without being in a mad rush!

It’s a good idea to look through popular travel websites and blogs to pick up tips about where to go and what to do there.

It’s the Thought That Counts

Even if you’re incredibly organized, the sad truth is that there’s no way of guaranteeing that nothing will go wrong on your trip. However, if something does go wrong, and there’s nothing you can do about it, that doesn’t necessarily mean your romantic gesture was a failure.

As long as you have put in your best effort, and your intention was to spoil your partner, s/he couldn’t help being touched by all the trouble you took to make the trip so special. Sometimes, when things go wrong, the experience of being together in a difficult situation is exactly what can bring a couple closer together.
