The Junkman’s Daughter

This shop was voted one of the 25 best independent stores in the US, and it is considered iconic in Atlanta. Here, you will find a kaleidoscopic array of vintage clothing and accessories as well as costumes, odd collectibles, and wigs. The store has two full floors stocked from floor to ceiling with quirky items that will make you say “What the…?” This is a great place to assemble your Halloween costume or find costumes for a performance, as you will find something original that will make you stand out.

The Elvis Vault

When you visit the Star Bar, this is easy to miss, so look closely. Tucked away in one of the corners is a hidden shrine to Elvis Presley, the King of Rock and Roll; it even has a decorative altar and a throne. You can pay your respects to the King here, perhaps giving a moment of silence or humming the chorus of “Hound Dog.”

The Variety Playhouse

Little Five Points is well known for its art scene, boasting a number of popular theatrical and music venues. The Variety Playhouse is one of the most famous. It is truly a stunning building, with art deco–styling. It was originally a movie theater and now is one of the premier concert halls in the city, showcasing bands in a range of genres from jazz to bluegrass to rock ’n’ roll.

Elmyr’s Restaurant & Cantina

If you have had a long day of shopping for quirky vintage clothes and seeing great shows, you will probably be hungry. In Little Five Points, you won’t find too many of the standard chain restaurants. Instead, you will discover locally-owned restaurants that offer unique and delicious dishes.

One of the best places to grab a bit is Elmyr’s Restaurant & Cantina. What could be better than a burrito after a day of sightseeing? This restaurant is very popular with locals, and it serves a great selection of delicious burritos, including the potato, black olive, and corn burrito (great for vegetarians), the Brunswick Burrito with smoked pork, corn, potatoes, pinto beans, and cheese, and even an exotic and spicy Pad Thai Burrito.

Savage Pizza

If you are more in the mood for a pizza, you can check out this establishment. Savage uses only the freshest ingredients and makes its pizzas from scratch every day, which is probably why it is a favorite in the neighborhood. They have a Cajun pizza topped with spicy red pepper sauce, shrimp, and andouille as well as a chicken Florentine pizza with roasted chicken, garlic white sauce, and parmesan. It’s a fun, welcoming place with a great atmosphere.
