Chianti, Italy, is also known as Monti del Chianti which literally translates as “Chianti Mountains”. That tells you the type of terrain you’ll experience when you visit Chianti in Tuscany, Italy.
It’s also a famous wine district and was the first area to have official boundaries as defined by a legal document. That was as long ago as 1716!
Today, there are many reasons to visit Chianti. You should familiarise yourself with the area beforehand to ensure you make the most of your time here.

Tour The Vineyards
You can’t visit Chianti without taking a look at the vineyards and sampling some of the locally-produced wines. If you want the best possible experience try this Chianti Tours / Walkabouttours.com. It lasts an impressive nine hours, gives you the opportunity to learn about the wine-making process, and you’ll get to sample plenty of food and the Chianti wine.
You’re guaranteed to have more fun and learn more than if you try visiting vineyards by yourself. You also don’t have to worry about how much wine you try.
