Living in Guatemala, the last thing my kids know about is American Soda Shops. When I heard about Pike’s Old Fashioned Soda Shop, I made it a top-priority stop for my kids and me.

I’m a huge fan of old-fashioned anything. And it’s been years since I’ve visited a typical, 50s-style soda shop in the US, too.
And what is the #1 thing you get at pikes place?
Milk Shakes!
And, let me tell you, Pike’s did not disappoint.

The kids’ menu is thorough with tons to choose from.
And in the adult’s menu, you get to choose your main meal and sides. I can almost survive on sides alone, but I got one of their top dishes: Honey Pecan Fried Chicken. Yummmmm.
Since Charlotte is a city that you need to have a car to get around, we rented from the Enterprise in Pineville, Charlotte.

Hours: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM Monday through Thursday. And until 10:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. Brunch Buffet on Sundays from 8:00 AM till 2:00 PM
- The place is decorated with marble counters, a soda fountain, craftsman-made stools and booths, stainless steel. It is meant to resemble classic diners.
- It serves freshly prepared salads, sandwiches, burgers, and home style cooking accompanied by milkshakes, sundaes and banana splits.
- Portions of the popular 2001 movie “Shallow Hal” were filmed at Pike’s.
