Save Money for Your Trip

My Top 3 Tips on How to Save Money for Your Trip

1. Create an itinerary

The first thing you need to do is to decide where it is that you want to go, and everything from the attractions you would like to visit. Take a look at hotels, hostels, and home rentals. Some restaurants also have a menu with prices on them.

You don’t have to work on the final version of the itinerary but it is good to have a draft to have an idea on what your budget will look like and how much you need to save.

2. Create a plan

Now that you have an approximate amount that you will need to go on your dream vacation you can start thinking about how you will save for it.

Some of those actions might be, to stop buying coffee at shops or restaurants, or to reduce your expenditures for next trip in general. This can get a lot easier if you create a list of needs vs wants. This will make it a lot easier for you to decide if you’d rather travel or get the stuff from your wants list.

You might also think about selling stuff you don’t need anymore or to downsize your cars, there are places where you can take yours and pick a cheaper one from a used inventory selection.

3. Start a travel fund

The last step is to separate your money. One of the biggest mistakes that we can make is to keep your everyday money on the same account as your savings. They need to be on a separate account.

This new savings account should not have a debit card or a checkbook attached to it. This way you don’t get the temptation to use it. Some of you might be strong enough to replace the money after but most of us aren’t.

Now that you know of the path that needs to be traced for you to successfully save for your trip you can get started. Aside from this, all you need is to do your best to stay disciplined. Good Luck and happy travels!
