Mini Golf in South Florida – A Great Day Out

So, here you are in South Florida! Before diving into theme parks and beaches, you have a free day to simply chill out and enjoy the weather and surroundings. However, the kids are having none of that. They want to have fun.

I bet you’re wondering about the things to do in South Florida

How about – Mini Golf in South Florida

Since I didn’t have anything planned, I did a quick search and found mini golf. Living in Central America we are extremely limited with this attraction. Sure, we found a couple of mini golf courses in Guatemala but they were a poor excuse for it. However it did whet my kids appetite. So they were all over the idea and we headed to Putt’n Around in Delray Beach.

We were in for a fun surprise. From the looks of the lounge and bar area when you enter this places also doubles as a sports bar hangout at night. Which was great for my kids to feel totally at home and lounge out on the couches (before and after the big game of golf).

The place offers two different courses we went with the Ocean theme. You can do both, each one is 18 holes.

So the fun began.

We are not golfers, but somehow during the day transformations happened right in front of my eyes.

My oldest had some practice, but my baby totally picked it up and was almost kicking our butts by the end of the day.

But it wasn’t all about golfing. The decor of the place, which had the water theme, was fun to explore.

Plus, the fountains made for a great back drop.

And don’t forget to rest between holes.

But the water was also part of the challenge. What do you do when the ball falls in? Get it out and play again.

After a good day at mini golf a hot dog and pizza always hit the spot.

Recommendations

Weather – Southern Florida can get hot. And I mean really HOT. We visited in December and it was smoldering out and also extremely humid. I would recommend coming in layers so you can strip down to appropriate measures to enjoy the outdoor activity. Also, sunscreen and plenty of water.

Also, it rains here. Not excessively, unless there is storm of course, but enough to get the mosquitos to multiply at insane rates. And it seemed that they were out in threefold the day we arrived. We didn’t have repellent, and definitely missed it. So come prepared have bug spray.

Courses to Play – Putt’n Around offers two courses, each 18 holes. But you can also do both courses of 36 holes. My kids are 9 and 3 years old, and I can say that 18 holes was actually too long for them. I think the 36 holes are more for adults hanging out with their buddies drinking some brewskies or teens coming to hang out with each other. Not at all for younger kids. One course is the way to go.

Duration – You can spend anywhere from two hours to five hours. It all depends on your kids and your group. We were done after two hours including lunch. It was a bit hot out for my kids, who are used to more temperate weather and less humid.
