Why Long-Term RV Stays Are More Popular Than Ever

People have long wanted the luxury of being able to stay in a vacation destination they love for as long as possible. Alas, in the past, that was rarely feasible — there were jobs to work, and budgets to be mindful of, that essentially brought everyone back to reality at some point or another.

But that’s beginning to change. People are slowly discovering that spending extended periods in vacation-worthy places genuinely is possible, and that’s especially the case if you have an RV.

While it’s more than possible to take an RV camping trip that lasts just a few days, more RVers than ever are electing to stay for weeks, or maybe even months, at a time. Here are just some of the reasons why.

Monthly RV park rates often include utilities, WiFi, and laundry facilities, making long term stays significantly more affordable than nightly bookings.

Remote Work Is On The Rise

People have always wanted to spend extended periods in an RV park, but their work obligations meant that they couldn’t. Today, those work obligations are a lot more flexible than in the past, and that’s opened up the possibility that people with an RV can live for months at an RV park without worrying about what’s happening to their job. After all, with remote work very much a thing, they can simply complete their work on the road.

RV Parks Are Set Up For It

Many RV parks allow guests to stay for just a night or two, but they encourage them to stay longer. Modern RV parks are designed for long-term stays, providing lightning-fast WiFi, laundry facilities, general stores, and business centers that all but ensure that long-term guests have everything they need to enjoy a comfortable, convenient stay, for however long that may be. Staying at an RV park can also unlock significant discounts, often taking a nightly fee of around $70 for single-night stays down to around $25 a night.

Many RV resorts offer discounted rates for 30-day or seasonal stays, which can reduce overall housing expenses compared to short term travel.

It Can Be Economical

Staying at an RV park for a month doesn’t just make economic sense compared with staying there for a night. It can make economic sense when compared with living at home. The average rent in the United States is $1,995 per month. It’s possible to stay at a well-rated RV park for much less than half that amount.

It’s also a lot cheaper than other travel types. It’s possible to work remotely in many countries around the world, but the cost of getting there can be expensive. If you already have an RV, then booking a long-term stay at an RV park offers plenty of fun without the heavy price tag.

It’s Easier Than Ever To Sublet a Home

Finally, it’s also simply easier for people with RVs to rent their homes and spend a few months in an RV park than it was in the past. Today, they can simply rent a storage unit, remove their personal belongings, find a tenant, and then head out on the road. This approach also helps to cut costs, since the amount they charge in rent could be a lot more than what they’d pay to live at an RV park.
