Every year we visit South Florida. It’s become a tradition for us since we visit my family in West Palm Beach for the holidays and then enjoy short trips close by to explore Florida. We’ve been all around West Palm Beach, Palm Beach, Miami, and the Florida Keys, but interestingly enough, we kept skipping right past Fort Lauderdale. So this year I made it my mission to check out what all the fuss is about. And let me tell you, Fort Lauderdale certainly gets a lot of buzz around it. We decided to go with the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort.
One thing I highly recommend about visiting Fort Lauderdale is to stay on the water. Which is a pretty easy feat. However, you have a choice of either staying on the canals – which are absolutely breathtakingly beautiful or the beach.
The canals, in my opinion, are amazing if you are on a boat or live there since you can’t do much for water fun, especially with kids. That’s why sunny beach access is what you HAVE to look for when visiting this city.
Why the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort?
When you first start to look for hotels or resorts in this area, it can literally do your head in. There are simply way too many to choose from.
So to start narrowing down our options, I like to go back into my reference bank of hotels or chains we’ve stayed in successfully before. One of which was a Hilton. Without looking any further, I contacted them and got us an Ocean View Suite.
With kids, it is always nice to have a living space, when possible.
And what’s staying on the beach if you can’t have a balcony and beach views?
The room was everything I wanted and so much more.
But the fact that it was literally across the street from the beach, with beach access, was awesome!
More Fun to be Had at Hilton Fort Lauderdale Hotel
Aside the cool, spacious room with an amazing view, here’s a quick tour of other stuff you can find on the property:
Entrance and Valet Parking – Parking in Fort Lauderdale is a tough thing, so having a valet is super helpful and you don’t have to worry about your car
Lobby – we were there for the holidays, and it certainly had a festive feel to it
Fitness center – OK, I’ve stayed in tons of hotels and resorts which claim to have fitness centers, but this one trumps every single one of them as far as hotel gyms go.
Adults only – when I’m not traveling with my kids this is literally music to my ears. I love LOVE to travel with my kids. But let’s get real. When parents get that sweet opportunity to go on their own, the last thing they want is to be splashed on by other people’s kids. I loved this part of the hotel, even if for this particular trip I enjoyed it peripherally.
Pool time – the pool is massive, and it’s open at all hours of the night, which is when we really enjoyed it since the water is warm all the time.
Beach time – and the main reason you come here is to spend quality time with your family on the beach, which is directly across the street.

That is an amazing view you had. The Hilton looks and sounds great. We’ve had good experiences with Hilton and would definitely consider this hotel next time in Fort Lauderdale. I’m in the mood for a Florida vacation … need to plan. 🙂
