It’s important for you to change your skin-care routine a little when traveling to cater to the changes that it will face.
With these factors in mind, we have prepared ten tips to make sure your skin is well cared for on your next vacation.
How To Have Great Holiday Skin
Prepare In Advance
Take time to think about your upcoming trip. Will you be traveling by plane? Will you be in a dry climate? Take a few days before you travel to prepare your skin. Gently exfoliate your skin and use a hydration mask (for instance, you could try our Coconut Honey Mask).
This is just as important for people with oily skin, remember that the drying effects you will experience when traveling can make your skin overreact. Once you have exfoliated, apply a moisturizer like our Herbal Facial Oil for Normal and Combination Skin. Dore Aesthetics suggests you make sure to have your skin in good shape before your trip starts.

Think About What To Pack
Your skin is going to experience stress when you are traveling. With that in mind, you should keep any products that may cause irritation at home, these could include harsh cleansers, peels, resurfacing treatment, and so on. Light therapy items, skin scrubbers, and other such gadgets can also stay at home.
You can pack travel-sized items for your normal moisturizer, as well as a serum that will stop your skin from drying out (our Herbal Facial Oils work a treat!) Make sure you also add something to care for impurities (for example our Dead Sea Scrub or our Purifying Mud Mask), a hydrating mask (try our Coconut Honey Mask), and an eye cream.
Think About Going Barefaced
For your travel day, try to apply as little makeup as you can get away with. Makeup has a way of hanging onto microorganisms and settling into pores, neither of which you want. You may also find a foundation to be drying. If you will be meeting with people on your arrival, then take along a small bag that contains a cleanser, moisturizer as well as lipstick, and foundation which you can use in the airplane bathroom before you arrive.
Work To Counteract Travel Dryness
Before you leave, apply your regular moisturizer (an oil is best as it gets deep into the pores), you could also consider a freshening mist to use en route. This helps the skin to stay hydrated in dry situations and can be the differentiating factor in whether you arrive looking fresh and glowing or dry and dull. Choosing the right mist can also give your skin protective antioxidants. You may like our Neroli Toning Mist or you could try our Rosemary Toning Mist (this choice is good for oily skin). If your flight lasts more than a few hours, take along a pocket moisturizer and use it regularly.

Protect Your Skin With Sunscreen!
UVA rays can come through the window of a plane, so make sure that you use sunscreen to keep yourself protected from the potential damage.
Bring Blotting Cloths
For people with oily skin, blotting cloths can be used when traveling, using oil-blotting papers can cut down on the oil on your skin and work better than a normal tissue which may leave residue on the skin.
Don’t Touch Your Face!
This has to be one of the biggest mistakes we make when we are on the road or traveling. In public spaces or on planes there are a lot of germs, so every time we touch our face we are putting those germs onto our skin where they can later appear as problem pimples. If you need to touch your face, use a tissue or oil blotter so that your skin has protection.
Drink Plenty Of Water
Forget about those sodas full of sugar and opt for water instead. This will make sure that your skin stays hydrated from the inside out.
Be Super Careful On Your First Night
Once you have arrived at your destination, your skin gets priority. You will likely have environmental elements on your skin when you arrive. The first chance you get, wash your skin carefully, exfoliate to get rid of travel gunk, and use your best moisturizer. Plus, don’t forget about your eye cream!
Apply Ice Under Your Eyes
Many travelers suffer from circles under their eyes. If you notice them while traveling by plane, ask the attendant for ice along with a towel. Apply it under your eyes like you would do an ice pack. You can also do this the first night you arrive before you go to bed so that you will wake up looking more refreshed. You should also apply your eye cream regularly to get rid of fine lines or dryness.
