How To Gain Inspiration When Working From Business Accommodation

Working from home is no easy feat. With distractions all around you such as the TV, the kitchen, or even looming housework, it’s no wonder that people who work from home struggle to stay on track with their daily tasks. So, if you’re working away for business in say, a furnished apartment, how can you gain the inspiration you need to work? It’s a difficult situation to be in because while you’re not in the office, you’re not technically at home either. Luckily, there are plenty of things you can do to gain the inspiration needed without falling behind.Staying at a Business Accommodation isn’t always the best thing to gain inspiration or think new strategies but there are things you can do.

Working From Business Accommodation

Use your accommodation to your advantage

If you are lucky enough to be staying in a furnished apartment in say, New York, then you’ll be pleased to know that you have some incredible advantages that come with the property you’re in. Many business accommodations these days provide a pool on site which will allow you to blow off some steam so that you can get back to working with a level headed mind. If you’re not a swimmer, per se, then why not look for an apartment that has a gym included instead? Exercise is an incredible way of gaining clarity in your mind!

Not only that, if you’re in the center of a big city like New York, there’s plenty of things you could visit to gain some inspiration for your work. Sometimes concentrating too hard on the task at hand can be worse than not doing it at all. Take a break, rejuvenate yourself, and you’ll find that it’s much easier to be productive.

Take in the views

One thing you’ll find if you’re working away from home in a big city is the views from your accommodation. Imagine setting up your laptop on the balcony of your apartment and being able to work with the New York skyline rippling away in front of you. Sometimes being able to take in a breath of fresh air and appreciate the views in front of you can help clear your mind and inspire you with new ideas.

Make space just for work

One of the first things you’ll be told by someone who works from home is that it’s imperative to make a space that’s just for working. This is because even when you’ve finished your daily tasks, having reminders of work spread out everywhere can make you feel like you’re still working which, in turn, prevents you from relaxing. Make sure that even if you’re only staying away for business that you’re making space just for working. Whether it be on the balcony in front of the skyline or at the dining room table, you’ll find that you’re much more productive keeping work in one place of your apartment.

Take something personal

When you’re at home or working from your regular office, it’s likely that you’ve got something on your desk that’s personal to you. A picture of your family perhaps, or maybe even a potted plant that helps brighten up your desk? Whatever it is – take it with you! You’ll be surprised at how well personal items can help comfort someone in a strange place. If you feel comfortable, you’re more likely to settle into a working routine! Plus, if you’re away from home for a considerable amount of time, isn’t it nice to have something personal to remind you why you’re doing this?

Other tips

Here are some other tips that might help motivate you to create the best work yet:

  • Decorate your working space (within reason) to replicate your usual office. Again comfort comes into play here!
  • Communicate with others on the same tasks as you! If a colleague is staying in the apartment across from you, liaise with them to make sure you’re on the same page and also to share ideas.
  • Eat away from your accommodation. Being in the same space for too long is bound to be uninspiring.
  • Get dressed. While one of the bonuses of working from home is that you don’t need to, it certainly helps with motivation when you’re dressed.

Use time management tools to plan your time wisely. This includes taking a break away from your computer too!
