For the past few years, we have established a new tradition; when visiting my parent’s place in Florida for holidays, we take them to a fine dining experience. This time we booked to dine at the Echo Restaurant and this is my whole experience.
First, I want to mention that I discovered The Breakers Resort in Palm Beach, in 2013, and since then, we even use this place. In our first year, we booked a suite and organized a family dinner at Flagler Steakhouse to celebrate my dad’s 70th birthday. However, there are plenty of places to visit when you are around 21!
Nonetheless, a little secret, I will share with you: after your initial visit to The Breakers, it is highly probable that you will return. Based on my personal experience, it is always impossible to dine in the same spot twice. With The Breakers, you won’t have such an issue because they have an endless amount of restaurants available.
Therefore, this year, we decided to go Asian. The best choice would be Echo Restaurant Situated comprehensively in Palm Beach, Echo Restaurant at The Breakers Resort provides Americans with an Asian perspective for today. A distinctive take on conventional southeastern Asian cuisine, from sashimi and sushi to Saigon shrimp and meat, made my mouth water.

What Makes Echo Restaurant Different?
Echoes Restaurant is part of The Breakers Resort, a historic and luxurious hotel operating as a Palm Beach keystone since 1896. That’s not the best part about Echoes. The hotel isn’t technically where the restaurant lies. I think that’s one of the reasons I most loved visiting Echoes. It sits at the heart of Palm Beach. It took me about ten minutes to walk from the actual hotel. Although I’ve had the chance to visit Palm Beach before, I don’t think I’ve ever visited the section where Echoes stands before.
Palm Beach is said to have the most expensive zip code in America. Quite frankly, I don’t really care about that. However, the effects of that label do something for the area. It is rare that you step out of your car and feel this absolute sense of elegance and richness.
And I’m not talking about money richness, but a feeling of beauty and perfection. It’s hard to put your finger on it, but I can guarantee you will have the same feeling as I did when you entered this area. Even my kids were acting differently. Like they were more respectful of their surroundings.
Interestingly enough, the ambiance spilled over into the restaurant itself, and I knew I made a good choice to celebrate with my family and my parents.
Echo Restaurant Areas
The restaurant has five areas where you can sit and enjoy the drinks and food. Good enough, each area has its own charm and ambiance, and you can choose the one that suits you best, particularly based on your mood and preference.
1. Outside patio – which overlooks the street. We decided to stay indoors cause with kids, you never know if they are going to get ‘cold’ for no reason, even if the weather is 40 degrees. Anyhow, the outside area is pretty spectacular with pleasant weather and the view of the street.
2. Inside – that’s where we sat. We wanted to have a bit of privacy and also not worry about the kids. This is the main dining room. The inside area is spacious and elegant, with a modern and minimalist design. The walls are adorned with Asian-inspired paintings and sculptures, and the lighting is soft and cozy.
3. Sushi Bar area – The sushi bar area is located next to the inside area and has a long and curved counter with stools. This is more for couples or people eating solo, not so much for families. But we did have fun watching them make the sushi.
4. Dragonfly Lounge – This is the bar area. They have excellent happy hour deals! Here, you can enjoy some drinks and snacks before or after your meal. The Dragonfly Lounge has a lively and energetic atmosphere, with a serpentine bar and a DJ booth. The music is upbeat and eclectic, and the crowd is diverse and friendly.

5. Outside in the garden area – This, too would have been super fun. But with a blazing fire, not sure if my kids would end up roasting their little fingers rather than simply enjoying it. Though, this is a romantic and intimate option, especially for couples or special occasions. The garden area is surrounded by trees and flowers and has a serene and peaceful vibe. You can cuddle with your date, and enjoy the warmth of the fire and the sound of the water.
The Food at Echo Restaurant
The restaurant offers different dishes all from Asian cuisines, such as Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Thai. However, from what we saw and mainly ordered, sushi was definitely their specialty. They had such an incredible selection and delicious rolls. We must have eaten at least ten different kinds.
And how can you come to a Japanese-style restaurant and not have miso soup? What’s different about their soup is that it comes with scallops. Yum!
We also had their duck poppers, which were the special appetizers of the day.
I was craving Chinese food, and since we don’t get that in Guatemala at all, I ordered the Sesame Chicken. It was completely different from what I normally get, in a good way. The sauce was fresher, or maybe this was the first time the actual sauce was made with real and fresh ingredients.
But my favorite part was the wine. Plum wine is my absolute favorite, and I only get to enjoy it two times per year when visiting the US. I could’ve sat here for hours just sipping on the wine.
Recommendations for Echo Restaurant
My first recommendation: Make reservations. We arrived around 6 pm on a Wednesday, and the restaurant was half full. However, within the hour that we were there, it literally filled up. I guess we weren’t the only ones who found out about this gem of a place.
My second recommendation: Take your time. The food comes out pretty quickly. Without knowing this, we ordered the appetizers and drinks first. Enjoyed and savored the flavors. Then, we decided on the main dishes. Granted, 75% of our meals were sushi rolls, but the rest of the food came quickly. So it was a good thing we waited to do the ordering until after we were fully done with the first course.

The Bottom Line!
In short, I liked everything in Echo Restaurant – from food to atmosphere and service level. I would advise you to visit it for a date night, special occasion, or a casual dinner with friends and family members. For me, it was an excellent opportunity to celebrate our event with my spouse, children, and parents while eating tasty meals and breathing in the luxurious atmosphere. I recommend you to go and try, especially for Palm Beach, Florida, residents because you will not be disappointed!
