The visa

If you have a US passport, you will not need a visa to go to Dubai. However, if you are traveling from any other country, you need to apply. Based on the purpose and duration of your visit, you can apply for a 14-day visa, 30-day visa, 60-day visa, and 90-day visa. You can apply online, and the processing time takes anytime between 24 to 72 working hours.

Going to Dubai

Some of the most popular airlines travel to Dubai, such as Emirates. One can also find some great deals with Air India Express and make a booking based on their travel plans. You can travel to some other great places like Abu Dhabi and explore the Qasr al Watan, a huge palace!

When to go

The best time to visit and explore Dubai is during the winter months when the temperatures are cooler. Avoid the hot summer months when the heat is unbearable.  However, be ready for crowded places with tourists from November to March, which is the peak season.

Where to stay

You can find hotels, lodges, and homestays that suit every traveler and their budget. There is no scarcity of luxury hotels in Dubai, and one should look for a central location that is closer to the major attractions and travel hubs.

Moving around

Once you are settled in your hotel room, it is time to explore and see Dubai. Just like any other major tourist city, expect a lot of traffic. You can hire regular taxi cabs or rent cars to go from one location to another. Dubai Metro system is also popular and is very clean and easy to use. Another way to move around is in the Hop On/Hop Off buses.

Must-see sights

Dubai is loaded with tourist attractions, but there are some sports that should not be missed by any first timer in the city. Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, can be seen from anywhere in the city. Visit the Dubai Mall and enjoying looking at the Dubai Fountain. Other touristic attractions include old Dubai, Dubai desert, Dubai mosques, and downtown Dubai at night. La Mer is the hippest beachfront in the city. Dubai’s water parks are very popular, and some of the favorites include Wild Wadi, Legoland Water Park, and Aquaventure that boast of slides, lazy river rapids, and kids’ areas.

Shopping and eating

The diverse and multicultural dining scene in Dubai is sure to overwhelm you. You can enjoy fine dining in leading restaurants such as Heinz Beck and Yannick Alléno or explore the local streets for the melting pot of cuisines. Go to the world’s largest and glitziest malls in Dubai with designer shops and multiple restaurants. You can even ski inside the shopping mall at the gargantuan Mall of the Emirates.
