COVID-19 Travel Essentials That You Need to Stay Safer

The coronavirus has changed everything around us. But that doesn’t mean we can’t carry on.  Several countries have lifted the travel ban, but traveling during the COVID-19 pandemic is going to be a whole lot different because we need to stay safe and keep others safe. During the entire travel, you will have to be extra careful and completely prepared so that you can return home healthy and happy without infecting anyone else.

To help you, I have mentioned travel essentials in this article that you must carry if you choose to travel during the pandemic. Read carefully.

COVID-19 Travel Essentials That You Need to Stay Safer

COVID-19 Travel Essentials

Health and Sanitization:

Sanitizer – If you’re traveling by road, you can carry as many sanitizer bottles as you want. But if you’re traveling by air, you will have to limit the quantity to 12 ounces or roughly 355 ml per passenger. Usually, passengers are permitted to carry 3.4 ounces or 100 ml containers through a checkpoint. So, you will have to spend some extra time to get sanitizer containers screened separately.

Disinfecting Wipes – Stock up on anti-bacterial wipes so that you can sanitize public surfaces such as door handles, elevator buttons, luggage carts, etc. before touching them. Even if you’re traveling by plane, you are allowed to carry jumbo-size wipe containers in your checked as well as carry-on luggage.

Face Mask – Wearing a surgical face mask is extremely important even if you’re stepping out of the home for just 10 minutes. But, when you’re traveling, make sure you wear a washable and reusable mask. If you think you won’t get a chance to wash your mask as frequently as you should, get copper face masks for you and your traveling companions. Copper anti-viral masks offer layered protection, and copper infused in the top layer destroys bacteria and viruses since it has anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties.

Travel Thermometer – Don’t forget to keep a travel thermometer so that you can check for fever even if you feel a slight discomfort.

First Aid Kit – Make sure you have all the necessary travel medicines for common health problems such as nausea, stomachaches, cold, etc. so that you don’t have to make unnecessary stops or doctor visits. Don’t forget vitamin C pills to keep up the energy levels. Also, keep items such as bandages, wraps, and other wound care items to stay prepared in case of an emergency

Infrared Thermometer – With today’s pandemic it’s good to have an infrared thermometer on you, which you trust.

Clothing:

Extra Jacket or Overcoat – Keep a jacket or overcoat in your car trunk or carry-on luggage so that you have an extra layer of protection when you’re about to step out in a comparatively crowded space.

Skull Caps – Do not let your hair loose or in open if you’re on roads; always wear a skull cap. You can also cover your head with a scarf.

Gloves – Make sure you have several pairs of disposable unigloves and are always wearing one to avoid accidentally touching a contaminated surface. If you’re driving or traveling by air, copper compression gloves are even better. Not only does copper destroy bacteria and viruses, but the graduated pressure from the compression gloves also prevents swelling and pain in hands common during travel.

Food:

Due to safety reasons, you shouldn’t eat out in places or restaurants you do not know much about. Also, you must avoid unnecessary stops to buy packaged eatables when you’re traveling by road. So, make sure you carry plenty of snacks or foods ideal for travel, such as:

  • Granola bars
  • Crackers
  • Nuts
  • Cookies
  • Chocolates
  • Juices in small tetra packaging (carry a mini cooler if it’s convenient)
  • Fruits
  • Muffins, etc.

You can carry these food items even when you’re traveling by air.

Other Essentials:

Cash – Visiting public ATMs is not very safe, especially if you don’t know about the condition of the surrounding areas. So, load up on cash.

Ziplock Bags – If you have zip-lock bags when traveling by road, you won’t have to stop to dump trash again and again. You can also use ziplock bags to immediately get rid of disposable gloves and masks if required.

Blankets – If you have to make a necessary stop before you reach your destination by road, make sure you use your own blankets to cover yourself. You can use your own blanket in the hotel you have booked too. Some extra peace of mind never hurts.

Sheets and Pillow Covers – You should always carry your own pillow covers to be on a safer side. However, you can also carry some sheets if it’s convenient.

In addition to carrying a perfect travel kit, make sure you diligently follow hygiene etiquette and keep a safe distance of at least 6 feet from people around you. Stay aware at all times so that your health is not compromised.

Happy traveling!
