With that being said, I have a few tips when adding a stove jack to a tent: 1. Make sure it’s not right in the middle where you have to crawl over it to get in and out. 2. Make sure it’s not too close to the door and you can’t get out in case of an emergency. 3. Make sure it’s not so close that it’s a fire hazard. 4. Make sure you have a stove pipe that is at least 6 inches above the tent. 5. Keep the stove away from the tent material. 6. Make sure you use a stove jack that is approved by the tent manufacturer. 7. Make sure you ground the stove jack so it doesn’t come in contact with your tent or insulation. 8. Make sure you don’t overheat your tent by using a stove.

It’s definitely not impossible, but it’s a pain in the neck. First, you have to get the tent stretched out and safe. The tent I was using was a three man tent, so it wasn’t too bad. Next, you have to find the right location on the tent.

This can be difficult because there are no guidelines on where you should put the stove jack. After looking at the tent for a while, I decided to put it in the back. After making a few marks, I had to see a few holes. From here it was a lot of sewing and sealing. Hopefully this article will help someone else who is trying to do it for the first time!
