Best Toys for Car Trips To Keep Your Kids Busy!

Road trips are fun, but they can also be a bit boring for kids. If you’re traveling with small children, you might want to pack a few toys so that your little ones won’t get bored on the road. Here are some of our favorite road trip toys!

In case you prefer to travel by bus, I have a post with many things to do on a long bus ride.

LEGO is a great toy for road trips, especially with kids of all ages. You can play it in the car or in your hotel room, and it’s easy to clean up after you’re done, so you don’t have to worry about taking up valuable space in your trunk or carrying around dirty toys.

Lego sales are available everywhere. It’s also portable, so if you need some downtime from driving, but still want to keep the kids entertained during the trip (and who doesn’t?), this is a perfect option!

Playing cards

Playing cards are a classic toy to keep in your car. They’re easy to pack, and you can play many different games with them as well as make up your own. For example, you could use the cards to play War or Go Fish. You could also use them just to pass the time.

Playing cards are cheap and easy to find virtually anywhere—any dollar store will have them—so there’s really no reason not to have them around when going on a road trip!

Magnetic games

Magnetic games are a great choice for road trips, particularly if you’re traveling with kids. They’re portable and easy to pack, and they appeal to people of all ages.

You can play magnetic games just about anywhere; all you need is the board game and some magnets! The best part about these toys is that they don’t require any batteries at all—the only thing you need is imagination!

Magnetic fishing game

This is a classic car game that can be played by all ages. It’s fun for the whole family, and you can play it in the car or at home.

The idea of magnetic fishing is simple: You fill up a plastic tub with sand, add two compartments filled with water, and put some metal objects in each compartment. Then everyone grabs their magnet wand and tries to fish out as many items as possible without dropping their wand into the water!

There are lots of different varieties available (like this one), but it’s easy enough to make your own with whatever materials you have lying around: Just grab a plastic tub, add some sand and rocks inside so they don’t roll around too much, then fill both compartments with water before tossing some metal items in there (tools work great). Remember not to go overboard—you want this activity to last longer than 15 minutes!

Bead and wire sets

Beads and wire are fun to play with, and they can be used to make jewelry. They can also be used to make friendship bracelets or a necklace!

Card games

Card games are a classic road trip toy. They’re easy to learn and understand, can be played by 2 players or more, and are great for keeping kids occupied. We recommend bringing a deck of cards so that you can play some of these card games:

  • Go Fish
  • Spoons
  • War (also known as Old Maid)

These toys will help keep your kids occupied while you travel.

  • Toys that are easy to carry: You want toys that are small and don’t take up a lot of space. The perfect toy will be something your kids can play with from the front seat, as well as during stops at rest areas and gas stations.
  • Toys that are easy to store: These should also be light enough for you to bring in your luggage or store out of sight when you reach your destination.
  • Toys that don’t take up much space: You want toys that will fit in the trunk of the car, but won’t take up an entire shelf if you have limited storage space in a hotel room or rental house.
  • Toys that are fun and educational: Your children will be more likely to play with these while they ride along on long road trips if they also offer some educational value.

With these toys, you’ll never be bored on your road trip. The best part is that they’re all really portable and easy to travel with, so they won’t take up a lot of room in your car. If you’re planning a long road trip, we hope this blog post has helped you make some decisions about what toys would suit your family best!
