One of the questions we’re asked most often at Debbie’s Villas is, “When is the best time to visit Orlando?” The truth is, there’s no single answer. Orlando is a year-round destination, with each season offering its own advantages. Some families prefer to travel during the UK school holidays, while others choose quieter periods to enjoy lower prices, shorter queues and a more relaxed pace. The best time to visit depends on your priorities. Are you looking for the warmest weather, the lowest villa prices, or the chance to experience Walt Disney World with fewer crowds?

School Holidays or Off-Peak Travel?
For many UK families, school holidays are the only time they can travel, making Easter, the summer holidays and Christmas particularly popular.
These periods offer plenty of entertainment, seasonal events and a lively atmosphere across Orlando, but they also tend to bring larger crowds at the theme parks and higher demand for Orlando holiday villas.
If you have more flexibility, travelling during off-peak periods can make a noticeable difference.
Late January, February (excluding half term), early March, much of May, September and early November often offer a combination of pleasant weather, lower villa prices and shorter queues at many attractions.
Not only can you enjoy a more relaxed holiday, but you’ll usually have a wider choice of villas to choose from.
Orlando Weather Throughout the Year
One of the reasons Orlando is such a popular destination is its warm climate.
Here’s what you can generally expect during the different seasons.
January and February
Winter in Orlando is mild compared with the UK, with daytime temperatures typically ranging between 20°C and 23°C.
These months are usually among the driest of the year, making them ideal for exploring the parks. Pool heating is recommended if you plan to make the most of your private swimming pool.
March and April
Spring brings warmer weather, with temperatures usually climbing into the mid to high twenties.
Rainfall remains relatively low, making these excellent months for outdoor attractions, golf and relaxing by the pool.
May
Many experienced visitors consider May one of the best months to visit Orlando.
Temperatures are warm without being excessively hot, rainfall is generally still manageable and, outside school holidays, crowd levels are often lower than during the summer.
June, July and August
Summer is Orlando’s hottest season, with daytime temperatures frequently exceeding 30°C.
Afternoon thunderstorms become much more common, although they often pass quickly before sunshine returns.
These months are extremely popular with families travelling during the UK summer holidays, so it’s wise to book your villa well in advance.
September and October
Although still warm, September often sees fewer visitors after the summer holidays have ended.
Rainfall gradually decreases as autumn progresses, while temperatures remain ideal for swimming and enjoying Florida’s outdoor attractions.
October is particularly popular thanks to seasonal events at many of Orlando’s theme parks.
November and December
Late autumn and early winter bring pleasant temperatures, lower humidity and plenty of sunshine.
Christmas transforms Orlando into a spectacular festive destination, with special entertainment, decorations and seasonal events across the theme parks.
Demand for villas increases significantly during the Christmas and New Year period, so early booking is highly recommended.
How US Public Holidays Affect Crowd Levels
When planning your Orlando villa holiday, it’s worth remembering that American school holidays and public holidays don’t always match those in the UK.
Even if you’re travelling outside the UK school holidays, some attractions can still become busier during major US holiday periods.
Examples include:
- Presidents’ Day in February.
- Spring Break, which varies by state but generally falls during March and April.
- Memorial Day at the end of May.
- Independence Day on 4 July.
- Labor Day in early September.
- Thanksgiving in late November.
- Christmas and New Year.
If avoiding crowds is one of your priorities, it’s worth checking whether your travel dates coincide with any of these popular periods.
Can You Save Money by Travelling Outside the Summer Holidays?
In many cases, yes.
Demand for Orlando holiday villas is naturally highest during UK school holidays, which means prices are often at their peak.
If you’re able to travel outside these periods, you’ll often find greater availability and more competitive villa prices. Flights can also be less expensive, depending on the time of year and how far in advance you book.
For couples, retirees, families with pre-school children or anyone with flexible travel dates, visiting during quieter months can provide excellent value without compromising on the Florida experience.

Understanding Hurricane Season
Hurricane season officially runs from 1 June until 30 November, but it’s important to keep this in perspective.
Orlando is located well inland, around an hour from the Atlantic coast and even further from the Gulf Coast. By the time tropical weather systems reach Central Florida, they have often weakened significantly.
For most visitors, hurricane season simply means the possibility of heavier rain, occasional thunderstorms or changes to the weather forecast.
Florida has well-established weather monitoring systems, and any significant weather events are tracked carefully. If necessary, airlines, attractions and local authorities provide clear guidance and updates.
While it’s sensible to keep an eye on the forecast before travelling, hurricane season should not automatically discourage you from visiting Orlando during these months.
When Is the Best Time for First-Time Visitors?
If this is your first Orlando holiday, you’ll probably want to experience as much as possible.
Many first-time visitors enjoy travelling during spring or autumn, when the weather is generally pleasant and crowd levels can be more manageable than during the height of summer.
These periods make it easier to enjoy Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort and other attractions at a comfortable pace.
And What About Returning Visitors?
If you’ve already experienced the major theme parks, you may have a little more flexibility.
Many repeat visitors choose quieter months so they can spend more time relaxing by the private pool, exploring Florida’s beaches, shopping or discovering attractions beyond Orlando.
Because staying in an Orlando villa gives you the freedom to create your own schedule, travelling during off-peak periods often provides an even more relaxing holiday.
