Beachcomber Cottages In Vilano Beach St. Augustine –  Fabulous Spot for Families!

Confession time – Staying on the beach for our St. Augustine, Florida trip was not my idea. Excitingly enough, when I contacted The Bayfront Marin House the owner, Sandy, recommended her new beach cottages, Beachcomber, on Vilano Beach Florida as a fun option for my family.

Originally, my goal was to stay closer to the Historic District of St. Augustine in a B&B. That’s how I found Marin House in the first place. But when I was told that the cottages have two bedrooms and a living room with amazing views of the ocean, plus I had full use and benefits (free parking in the historic district and breakfast) of the main house, I was sold.

All About Beachcomber Cottages In Vilano Beach

When traveling with kids, location is surely key. And Beachcomber Cottages have it all – a quiet and peaceful beach atmosphere, yet close enough to all the action. Right now, the Beachcomber cottages primarily on Vilano consist of two raised cottages and two Caribbean-style homes, all just steps away from the Atlantic Ocean!

The front cottage has everything you could hope for including a Dune suite, Atlantic suite, and royal palm, with adorable ocean views, and excellent privacy. Only 30 feet away, the Oceanview Cottage is a two-bedroom cottage with fantastic views of the water from its living room and front porch. This is exactly where we stayed!  The last cottage, made up of the Lagoon Cottage and the Saltwater Suite, is perfect, too as it could give you the ideal day start with sweet views of water.

But When we arrived in December, Beachcomber only had two cottages open for guests. It is a new property for them, so they are working hard at getting it fully fixed up. Now, they have three cottages, one with a jacuzzi and a porch to lay out on. We had a small porch to sit on.

We visited the main house for breakfast, but being able to have freedom and space knowing that my kids and we weren’t making too much noise was liberating. And the best part was it was so close to downtown St. Augustine and all attractions – never longer than a ten-minute drive to anything.

Why Beachcomber Cottages Are A Better Choice for Families? – My Personal Experience

As a Mom, I’m always looking for ways to make my family vacations more enjoyable and stress-free.  And staying at Beachcomber Cottages definitely added to that goal. Coziness and spacious living room with full entertainment system is what a momy wants. Not to mention, the convenience of being just steps away from a beautiful beach where my kids could play and have fun while I relaxed on the porch with a book.

Full kitchen – I barely cook when we are at home, and when traveling I prefer not to even look in the direction of a kitchen. But it really does make a difference. Simply to be able to warm something up for the kids quickly. Make a cup of tea. Pop some popcorn. And store leftovers from eating out and munching on it for an evening snack.

Comfy and firm beds – tested by my son, the family’s best bed tester. I love when a place has great mattresses because it means rested kids and therefore happy kids.

Sleeping arrangements for everyone. The cottage had two bedrooms with two queen-sized beds. My kids are violent sleepers. Means, that they move around so much that even a king bed is too small for them at times. So, we prefer to have them sleep apart, and the couch in the living room was perfect for my oldest.

Views – I don’t know about you, but I prefer to wake up to an amazing sunset over the sea than historic buildings. This was one of the best parts of staying here. This cozy and private property with the main house, cottages, and rooms is perfect for big families or groups to take over. And if you’re traveling with a pet, don’t worry – Beachcomber Cottages are pet-friendly!

Nearly everything is new! I know that when a place is brand new, things are still being worked out. But this was not the case with Beachcomber Cottages. They were fully equipped and ready for guests. From the kitchen appliances to bathroom amenities, everything was clean, modern, and in perfect working order.

And that’s why I always recommend Beachcomber Cottages to families visiting St. Augustine, Florida. It offers everything that makes a family vacation truly relaxing and enjoyable – space, comfort, convenience, and beautiful views of the ocean. Plus, being just a short drive away from all the attractions in St. Augustine, it’s the perfect location for exploring this historic and charming city while still having a peaceful and quiet place to stay.

Vilano Beach which is nearly 0.2 miles away from the Beachcomber Cottages gives a relaxing way for visitors to enjoy the Florida sun. Here, you can also get a charter ride, which is a bit pricy but obviously worth it. If you are traveling with kids, check out the St. Augustine  Alligator Farm Zoological Park which is just 5 miles away from the cottages. Above all, there are some sweet spots near the cottages where you could enjoy delicious food, one of the really close restaurants is Fire Work Chinese Restaurant, just 0.2 miles from the cottages, which offers mouth-watering chicken, beef, and seafood options.
