Essential Equipment Needed When Going Outside

If you are feeling a little overwhelmed, you need not worry. We’re here to give you all of the information that you may need. With that in mind, here are 7 essential items that you should bring with you when you are going outside with your little one.

  1. Baby Carrier

You have two main options when you are leaving the house with your baby. The more traditional option, a stroller, is something that we will discuss later on. Other people however prefer to have a baby carrier. A baby carrier will allow you to have your baby strapped to your chest as you walk. This may sound impractical, but actually it gives you a lot of mobility to do other things, like walk the dog and more. You can get sturdy carriers that are designed to act like seats for your baby or you can get a baby carrier that is a wrap. Both have their pros and cons. When buying one of these, the main thing that you need to consider is whether the baby carrier in question will be appropriate for your baby’s age and stature. Some baby carriers may not be suitable for babies younger than 6 months, for instance. If you want to then you can also bring a stroller in addition to your baby carrier, so you can alternate between the two as needed.

  1. Stroller

Unless you have a baby carrier, you’re going to have a hard time leaving the house with your child if you don’t have a stroller. This is a little different if your child is a little older, but for at least the first year or two of your baby’s life you are going to need to bring a stroller with you when you leave the house. Again, make sure that the stroller you get is age appropriate, or at least can be adjusted to fit your child’s current needs. A good stroller can also be handy if it has a lot of storage space too, so consider a stroller that has compartments under the seat or pockets that you can use for smaller items.

  1. Baby Blanket

If it’s cold then you are going to need to make sure that you are protecting your baby’s skin! As such, it’s a good idea to make sure that you have a baby blanket on hand. Simply drape this over your baby to ensure that they are warm when you are out walking. If it’s especially cold you will also want to ensure that they are wearing a few layers of clothing too. Speaking of which…

  1. Extra Clothing

You never know when your child is going to have an unexpected accident when you are out and about! Even if they don’t have an accident, they may spill food over themselves or get into other messes. Thanks to this, it’s a good idea to always have some extra clothing with you when you leave the house, just in case you need it!

  1. Diaper Bag

This one seems like a no-brainer, but make sure that you have a good diaper bag with you when you go outside! This should contain everything that you need to change your little one’s diapers when you are out and about. It’s always better to be prepared!

  1. Feeding Equipment

If your baby is still very young then they are going to need to be fed very often. As such, make sure that you have everything with you that you may need in order to feed them, including bottles, formula or breastfeeding equipment and more. Just bring with you the things that you think you may need in order to make sure that your baby is well fed when you are exploring the great outdoors.

  1. Buggy Fan

If you are going outside in the warm weather, then your baby can heat up very quickly. The last thing that you want is for them to get overheated, so you may find it helpful to get a buggy fan. Simply attach one of these to the handlebars of your stroller and it will blow cool air at your child to keep them cool.
