A beach vacation is the holiday of choice for most people in the US. More than 400 million beach visits are made each year in the country, and many people flock to some of the best beaches in America, such as the ones in Florida, California, and South Carolina.
Beaches are ideal vacation destinations as there are many things you can do and many sights to see. However, if you’re planning to go on a beach holiday this year, know that there are some things to consider if you want to get the most out of your vacation. Here are three things to consider when planning your next beach getaway.
Domestic or International?
The first thing you need to think of is where you would want to go. Do you want to visit a local beach? If you do, California and Florida offer convenient beaches that are easy to reach from the city. If you’re coming from out of state, there are many lodging options that you can stay in that are just right in front of the beach. Of course, you can always go to Hawaii. You’d still have to fly there, but it’s less stressful than going abroad as you don’t have to think of changing currencies or finding travel guides.
If you have the budget to go international, then the options are endless. You can go to nearby countries such as Mexico and Venezuela, or you can also try going to South East Asia, such as the Boracay in the Philippines or Bali, Indonesia if you want to have a different kind of experience.
Your Choice of Activities
Think about what kind of activities you want to do when you get there. Different beaches offer different activities. If you want to try parasailing, surfing, snorkeling, or other popular activities, make sure to check ahead of time if your chosen beach has these facilities or shops available, and bring the proper gear.
Meanwhile, if your main goal is to sunbathe and enjoy the shallow waters, you can pack a skimpy triangle bikini to look your best on the beach, some sunscreen and killer shades, and you’re all set. Consider what you want to do in the evening as well if you’re staying for multiple days. Some areas are quiet at night, but some beaches, such as Laguna Beach in California or Pattaya beach in Thailand, boast exciting nightlife that you can enjoy after your daytime activities.
Check Out The Overall Vibe
When choosing the beach you want to go to, decide on what kind of environment you want to be in. Would you want to go to popular beaches so you can be among fellow beachgoers? Or do you prefer to be in isolated or remote areas where you can enjoy some peace and quiet? The latter usually is cleaner since there are less people around, but they also tend to be rocky and have little to no facilities or amenities that can guarantee a comfortable stay.
Meanwhile, overpopulated beaches tend to be mossy in some places, so if you’re someone who can’t stand moss, then definitely choose someplace that’s remote and has fewer tourists. Consider the accessibility of the beach as well. If you’re going on a holiday with your kids, beaches that are near hotels and resorts are highly preferable, especially in case of emergencies.
Once you have chosen your beach destination, remember to have a good balance between relaxation and fun. Try not to overdo it with energy-draining activities, as you want your beach vacation to be a relaxing one. Most importantly, beach vacations are enjoyed best with good company, so consider enjoying it with your family, or meet new people along the way.
