Most people don’t think of museums as potential attractions while they travel. But I have discovered that they can provide a few hours of fun and learning experiences for me and my boys. That’s why, while looking for fun adventures with my family I planned a visit to a few of the most iconic museums of the New York City.
Planning can be tons of fun, but for places as big and varied as New York it can get stressful. The whole process of planning a vacation to New York would have been a lot slower if it weren’t for sites like Splendia where you get tons of different lodging options in one place to make your life easier. It was also a challenge to decide among the countless attractions museums of the city, but I managed to narrow it down to three.
3 Family Friendly Museums in New York
1. Metropolitan Museum of Art – I know a lot of people don’t see it like a place that will appeal kids but it has cool artwork like the one about the Greek and Roman Empire, the Egyptian art and the knight room. Believe me, kids will spend some time admiring these art pieces and imagining full adventures in the middle of these cool pieces.
2. American Museum of Natural History – This is one of the most famous and most complete museums of its kind. In it you can find almost anything you might want to know about natural history. The exhibits are extremely well made and varied. It guarantees hours of sun for the whole family. Don’t forget to ask for the temporal exhibits they are always awesome too.
3. Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum – This is a really cool museum located on the USS Intrepid, dedicated to honoring all of the people that fight in the military. Visiting this place can be a true adventure, they allow you to get into air planes, you can go into a flight simulator and see all kinds of planes and weapons that were once used, all of that on board of one of the most successful ships in the US history.
These are just my top 3 recommendations. New York is filled with tons of different museums, so start researching, I’m sure there is something in the city for you.
