With its traditional traditions and rich Eastern heritage, Cambodia has become a destination for world-class American workers. Traveling to Cambodia has now become an easy task, as travelers have always found the process of obtaining a visa to travel to their destination a hassle. This was because the process of obtaining a visa was usually very long, and if the visa proposal was rejected, it would be a waste of effort and time. To provide an easy and fast way for tourists, the Cambodian nation has introduced the hassle-free process of e-visa for Cambodia.
E-Visa for Cambodia is an official document that allows its holder to travel within the country easily and conveniently. An American citizen can apply online. After applying for an e-Visa, the procedure is very simple, all you need to do is fill out a form, and you need to make the correct payment by credit card or other payment methods. The e-visa, after its approval, is sent to the applicants via an e-mail, which saves them from multiple visits to an embassy.
It can be noted that Cambodia has been steadily growing as a tourist hotspot over the past few years. In the year 2019, an estimated 3.3 million tourists visited Cambodia in January to June alone. According to the Ministry of Tourism, this shows a rise of 11.2% in the number of visitors touring Cambodia.
The Chinese nationals were the ones with the greatest number of tourists visiting the state of Cambodia. According to Khmer Times, around 1.2 million tourists from China visited the country in the first half of the year, providing a 38% increase from the previous year. The nations of Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand come on 2nd 3rd and 4th on the list of nations from who most number tourists visit Cambodia. China holds the top spot by accounting for 38.7% of all the tourists.
According to the Macroeconomics and Banking for 2019 and Outlook for 2020 published by the national bank of Cambodia, 7 million tourists are expected to visit the state of Cambodia in the year 2020; this shows the prospective growth of 0.3 million from the previous year’s 6.7 million estimates. The visitors from China are the Cambodian tourism sector’s main market, as the total visitors coming from China accounted for 38% of all foreign tourists. The trend of costal area visits and business meetings is expected to bring an increase in the number of tourists. But the growth of 6.1% brings forward a declining phase of sorts as in 2018, the estimate of tourism growth was at 10.7%. This doesn’t faze the ministry of tourism at all. According to their spokesperson, even at a slower growth rate in 2020, the estimated 7 million tourists fall well within the ministry’s plans.

A printed E-visa and a valid passport are the two documents that a US citizen must have when he arrives in Cambodia. Both these documents must be present in physical states as the custom officials put these documents through a verification process.
