Alaska, the northernmost state of the US and also the largest, is known by many as a cold place with little fun stuff to do but as you will find out by reading this post, there are tons of things to do in Alaska for adventure lovers.
Out of all of these attractions, I definitely have a few favorites that everyone should try even if they don’t have much time to spend in the area.
Trust me, you won’t regret it!
Top Three Things To Do in Alaska
1. White Pass & Yukon Route Railway
Take a ride on board of a gorgeous train that was built back in 1900 during the gold rush. It goes from Skagway in Alaska to Whitehorse in Yukon. It only worked until 1982 but a few years later it was turned into a touristic railway. Aside from being on a historic train and going through old trails you also get to pass by waterfalls, rivers, forests, and mountains.
To say the least, the scenery is breathtaking.
2. Flightseeing Tours
During this tour, you will be able to fly over miles and miles of natural beauties, located far away from any town or city.
Because of the lack of roads, flying is a way of life in Alaska. It is by far the best way of transportation to get to far away places. It is so common that there are air taxis.
You will not believe the beauty of the enormous rock and snow mountains of the region. You might even go as far as to check out glaciers.
3. Go on an Alaskan Cruise
Now that you have seen the inland beauties on your flightseeing tour it is time to go exploring the coastal scenery. During these tours, if you look carefully you might be able to find whales, sea lions, seals, puffins and even huge towers of ice.
During the tour, you will also pass through inlets and fjords where you can look for bears, goats, and bald eagles.
And don’t worry, when you book an Alaska cruise it isn’t as expensive as it might be in other places of the world. It is actually quite accessible.
Which one of these three adventures sounds like something you and your family would enjoy?
To be honest, I wouldn’t be able to choose just one. They are all amazing in their own way.
