The Smoky Mountains provide a stunning backdrop to any camping trip. If you enjoy the great outdoors, you will love the area around the Mountains in Haywood Valley. Whether you are heading off on a motorbike, or taking an RV trip with the family, there are plenty of campgrounds which you can use as a base for exploring the beautiful surroundings.
Once you have found the ideal campground, there are plenty of things for you to do. Depending on what time of year you decide to travel, you can take part in winter activities in Maggie Valley, such as skiing or snowboarding, or you can take a hike at Blackrock Mountain, in the summer sunshine. Whichever activity you choose to enjoy, there are several great campgrounds where you can sleep afterwards.
1. Blue Ridge Motorcycle Campground
If you are travelling to the Smoky Mountains on a motorcycle, this is an ideal choice of campground for you. As the name suggests, Blue Ridge Motorcycle Campground is intended to be a stopping off place for bikers. No four wheel vehicles can actually enter the camp. There is a parking area for cars, away from the camping area and RVs and large trailers are banned. The campground is just six miles off the Blue Ridge Parkway and is home to tent camping areas as well as heated cabins.
2. Creekwood farm RV Park
This RV park, in Waynesville just off Interstate 40, has plenty of free parking available. There is a selection of tents camping and cabins available and if you want to bring your pet along, they are welcome. Creekwood Farm RV Park is open all year; if you want to make a reservation to stay, you need to pay a deposit at the time of booking.
3. Hillbilly Creekside Campground
If you are escaping to the Smoky Mountains for some peace and quiet, you will find it at Hillbilly Creekside Campground. It’s a quiet and friendly place to stay and you can take your dog along with you, as long as it’s well behaved. The campground is in Maggie Valley and it’s right next to the country store where you can shop during your trip.
4. Smoky View Cottages and RV Resort
Anyone who prefers staying in a cabin than a tent will love the accommodation at Smoky View Cottages and RV Resort. The cabins are all cosily decorated and the campground covers five acres close to the center of Maggie Valley. This is a comfortable and convenient place to stay if you take a family vacation to the area. The campground is right next door to Maggie Valley Festival Grounds where events are held on a regular basis. No matter whether you are visiting Maggie Valley to hike in the summer or ski in the winter, this is an ideal place to stay.
If you are planning to visit the Great Smoky Mountains, choose the best campground for you, before you travel. Doing so means that you are sure of a comfortable and safe place to stay while you are there.
