Top 3 Road Trips in Australia

road trips in australia

If you have been following me for a while you know that my favorite way of transportation whenever my family and I travel to a new place is by car. So we are constantly looking for fun road trip routes that can take us from one destination to the other while still enjoying the fun hidden things along the way.

This time I am sharing with you three of my favorite road trip routes in Australia.

For this adventure there are two things that we absolutely need, the first one is a reliable car rental company and the second one is a good roadside assistance service. Once we are set with that we are ready to go for our Australian adventure.

Road Trips in Australia

1. The Great Ocean Road, Victoria
This route takes you from Torquay to Warrnambool. But don’t get confused, there is a short route that takes only two hours but it takes you inland. I am talking about the longer one that takes you through the gorgeous coast of Victoria.

You could probably drive it in one day but don’t do it. Take those 250-kilometers slow. Stop by the many beach-side towns for a meal or for some photos of the amazing views or catch a hiking tour to some nearby waterfall.

But above all, there are three places that you can’t miss, the 12 Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge Beach and Port Campbell National Park.

2. The Savannah Way, Queensland
Now this one is much longer. It takes you across the north part of the country. If you were to do it in just one long drive it would take about 47 hours. It takes you from Cairns to Broome.

If you are taking this road you have to at least stop for a visit to Millaa Millaa Falls, the Undara Lava Tubes and the Boodjamulla National Park.

3. Sydney to Brisbane Drive, NSW & Qld
Now for the last one, it is also short. This time it takes you along the east coast of the country. In it, you will go from Sydney to Brisbane and drive 900 kilometers along the Pacific Coast.

The almost mandatory stops of this route are Coffs Coast, going n a tour to one of the local wineries and enjoying some relaxing time at Kingscliff.

Of course, there are tons of other routes out there that you may like or that might be near the places that you are looking to visit so get your map out and start searching for your perfect route. You don’t have to worry about anything other than driving safely because you are covered with everything down to car batteries.
