I am a work at home mom. Which in many cases sounds great, but honestly it’s a lot harder to do since your children are around the house all day and don’t understand why their mommy prefers to be at the computer than with them. And for my one year old, explaining to him that if Mommy doesn’t work he won’t get his next bottle of milk. So when I found an baby development class at Prana Holistic Center in Antigua I treated myself for a birthday present of quality time with my baby.
Take a look at some other things to do in Guatemala with kids.
The class was mainly for kids from 3 months to right before walking. Ana Lucia Penagos Morena, the teacher who is also part of a popular program in Guatemala City for early stimulation – Muevete & Crece, controlled the 6 kids with their moms in a organized, educational manner.
What we did with our babies during the Baby Development class:
The class began with a Baby Massage. I rubbed oil on my son and massaged his legs, arms and torso area.
Next we moved on to textures. Ana used shaving cream and dipped the kids feet in to them. Not at all a favorite of my boy’s. He didn’t really know what to do with it. Surprisingly, with all his squirming and trying to get it off, I was super grateful it didn’t stain!
Climbing time! After we cleaned up the kids, Ana placed soft building and climbing blocks. Definitely a hit with my son. He’s one, and even though he doesn’t walk yet, he does love to crawl and climb – just like his big brother who climbs on everything.

We also got a chance to dance and play games. The parachute one was my favorite. Colorful, stimulating and seriously entertaining!
The class was just what I needed. A chance to be with my boy, while we both were entertained.
Thanks Isabelle Legris for a great birthday gift and giving me the chance to experience Prana Holistic center.
