Guatemala Travel – Private Salsa Lessons in Antigua Guatemala

Finally my husband and I had some time to spend alone and together and we wanted to do something extra fun. After a lot of thinking we decided to go for something I have never tried before: A private salsa lesson in Antigua Guatemala.

I had been told about a really good place where they offer private salsa lessons called Salsa Chapina Dance Company and it is located in Antigua’s Center. I was a bit nervous at first because I have no idea of how to dance salsa. But it wasn’t that bad, in fact it was actually really good and a lot of fun.

When we got there we met our instructor. He is called Alexander Miranda and was great with us and so patient. First we started with some basic salsa moves. At first I was a bit confused and stiff but after a little while I got very comfortable and that was when all the fun started. Before I knew it I was doing some turns. It was nothing fancy but a great progress in my dancing skills.

Then our instructor asked to us if we wanted to try something different so we decided to try some Rumba. This style is a bit different than salsa but still a lot of fun, as if that wasn’t enough we also asked him to show us some Cumbia. This last one for me was the best.

We had so much fun that we decided that we would go back as soon as we had some time. But since he also offers group lessons we decided that we would invite some friends to come with us but this time we will try Merengue and Bachata too. I bet it will be just like a party so I’m very excited about it.
