Spotlight Costa Rica – Pacuare Lodge, A Rafting Eco-lodge

Pacuare Lodge is a beautiful eco-lodge in the middle of the Costa Rican rain forest, right next to one of the best places for rafting in Costa Rica, the Pacuare River, Turrialba. This is also a great place for all those nature lovers or adventurous honeymooners.

The Pacuare Lodge offers thirteen independent bungalows and a main lodge. And because of its design and management policy it is a hotel that causes minimum impact to the environment.

In this case being eco-friendly doesn’t mean forgetting all about comfort. This lodge has five different lodging options and for me they are all beautiful. But the ones that impressed me the most were the honeymoon suites and the linda vista suites. They both have an outdoor shower with solar heated water and some of the best views on the property.

But don’t get me wrong, this place is also great for family vacations. The property has plenty of open spaces where kids can run freely and safely.

This is a great option for people planning on coming to Costa Rica specially those looking for some romance and relaxation. I guarantee the staff will always be helpful and friendly and the quality and taste of the food they serve will blow your mind.

So dare to visit this place, and let me know how it went!

Here’s what people have to say about them and if you don’t believe them, I dare you to try it!

This was a wonderful experience. We stayed 1 night and did the canopy zipline tour. The food was wonderful and the staff was very accommodating. Our guide “Chamoo” was excellent. He was the guide for the rafting, zipline, and the bartender. I travel frequently and I think he is the best guide I have ever had. I definitely suggest you request him and work your schedule for the trip so you can get him. There is a quick hike to a waterfall that was nice and worth doing (20 minutes).

The food was great, especially the banana pancakes in the morning. This is an absolute must for any trip to Costa Rica.

Combine rafting on one of the top rivers in the world with an off the grid stay in an eco-lodge in the Costa Rican jungle and you get the Pacuare experience. If you are looking for a straight up luxury experience, this one may not be for you. But, if you want something different and unique, this one is for you. Yes, there are hiccups—no hot water in our room, for example. Being eco-friendly comes with compromises, I guess. On the upside, the lodge was one of the most relaxing places we have ever been and the river rafting is superb.
