This week is the turn of a beautiful beachfront hotel in Tamarindo, Guanacaste Costa Rica called Hotel Capitan Suizo. It is located 1 km outside of the town Tamarindo. The hotel is right in the middle of the forest and has beautifully landscaped gardens so animals such as monkeys, iguanas and birds are common visitors. It is a great option for family vacations but at the same time it is a popular destination for honeymoons.
The reason for that is the fact that this hotel offers 7 private bungalows, a honeymoon bungalow, 22 rooms and a four-bedroom-suite. And as I was able to find out all rooms are beautifully decorated and private plus they all have a balcony or terrace, overlooking tropical gardens and facing the ocean.
There is also a fantastic open-air, beachfront restaurant with gorgeous views that offers delicious European style cuisine. Some other things this great place offers are a swimming pool, a fitness area, internet service and a boutique. This is without a doubt one of Tamarindo’s best hotels.
I visited Capitan Suizo with my husband and son and we all had a great time. The staff is welcoming and accommodating plus they always have a smile on their faces. But the real highlight of our stay here were the rooms. They are gorgeous and spacious.
I loved this place and I think you would love it too so if you ever visit the North Pacific Region of Costa Rica give it a shot!

Here’s what people have to say about them and if you don’t believe them, I dare you to try it!
We stayed in a bungalow and loved everything about it! It was more than enough room for the three of us. The pool is beautiful and not overly crowded – the restaurant is casual at lunch and delicious at night! And of course we loved seeing the monkeys. Rolando (the hotel’s concierge) was incredibly helpful with our reservations and with anything we needed during our stay – He made our trip! We would definitely recommend Capitan Suizo to anyone visiting Tamarindo!
Looking back (we traveled a year ago and forgot to post), other than our honeymoon, this was my husband’s and my most romantic vacation in 10 years of marriage. The ROOMS were beautiful and unique, with an amazing view of the lush courtyard. The INCLUDED BREAKFAST was bountiful and perfectly delicious every morning. The BEACH was just a few footsteps beyond the breakfast area. The VIEW and SOUNDS were of gorgeous indigenous plant life and animals – yes, iguanas, monkeys, and gorgeous birds (who may want your breakfast) – and the beach right outside. The gift shop was even great! The staff were the friendliest group, each and every one.
The only downsides were that the rooms were warm – no air conditioning – so be ready to sleep with the fan and breeze to keep you cool, and shopping and dining (other than the hotel) were a short car ride away. Construction was going on, so maybe shopping is closer now??? Oh, and wireless internet access was available in the lobby area but not in the rooms.
We would stay here again and again and again.
