Spotlight Costa Rica – Hotel Banana Azul in Puerto Viejo

Hotel Banana Azul in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica is a small, beachfront hotel. The hotel offers rooms, bungalows, suites and even an apartment made out of wood and in the middle of the forest. This means you can come with a group of friends and even spend a romantic honeymoon.

Some other things that you can find in this hotel are a private bath in all the rooms, free wireless internet, an 8 people Jacuzzi and a swimming pool.

My experience in this hotel was fantastic, the place is beautiful and a couple of meters away from the beautiful beach. As I said before all rooms are made of wood but not only from the outside. The decoration is almost all made of wood too. This for me made it a warm and homey place.

I loved this beautiful beachfront hotel place and would highly recommend it.

Here’s what people have to say about them and if you don’t believe them, I dare you to try it!

This hotel is fantastic. The rooms overlook the ocean. The atmosphere is pure tranquility, warm and friendly, cozy and delightful. The food is delicious and the price is right. I ate the best hamburger of my life at Banana Azul, and I eat some pretty fancy non-fast food hamburgers here in the States. It’s easy to meet new people and make new friends at this hotel. It’s a convenient walk into town. Geck Trail Adventures in on site, so you can book many wonderful tours and have door to door service. They provide sunscreen, towels, hammocks, games and books. There are also many wonderful dogs and cats who stay at the hotel. This delighted us to no end, but if animals aren’t your thing, you should probably choose a different hotel (and maybe a different country- I mean, come on!) The only negative I can mention is that the beds are very loud – not so conducive to romance, if you know what I mean. But they are comfortable, and you can sleep very well in them. If I were headed back to Costa Rica, the first place I would go is Puerto Viejo and the first thing I would do is book a room at the Banana Azul.

This is a nice hotel. Very relaxed, good food. Beach access. They can recommend activities to do. Also check out the Jaguar animal rescue center in Playa Cocles. Definitely a highlight of the trip!
