1. Summer vacation in Sonoma, California

If you’re a wine connoisseur, you may be thinking about California as your next vacation. While Napa Valley may be the first California region you think of, you shouldn’t overlook Sonoma.

This smaller city has some amazing vineyards and wineries that are worth a visit. But, there’s so much more to this town than wine. Tons of museums and parks can make this a trip the whole family will love.

In fact, Sonoma was voted #1 in the “Best Towns to Visit List” and #2 in the “Best Places to Visit in July” list. Have we convinced you to visit Sonoma? A travel agent, like Bill Bailey Travel Club, can help you plan the perfect trip.

2. Summer vacation in Seattle, Washington

If you’d prefer a city over rolling hills and vineyards for your summer vacation, then Seattle is one of the best vacation destinations.

There is no shortage of things to do in this wonderful city. The Seattle Space Needle and the Pike Place Market are just some of the must-see attractions. The best part is that Seattle sits right on the water, so you can enjoy some amazing sea views without ever leaving the city.

If you want to enjoy some nature, the Olympic Sculpture Park gives you the chance to enjoy some fresh air and amazing sculptures.

3. Summer vacation in Florence, Italy

If you’re looking for a destination abroad where you can enjoy a wide array of things, then Florence is the spot for you.

Italy is full of popular vacation spots, including Rome, Venice, Milan, and of course, Florence.

While all these cities have their charm and draw, Florence rises above as the best Italy has to offer.

While walking through this city, you can gaze at the intricate architecture adorning many of the buildings. Dig a little deeper, and you’ll find that Florence is home to some of the most impressive art displays in the country, including Michelangelo’s “Statue of David.”

If you get tired of the city, there are tons of wineries and vineyards just a short drive away. Since Florence is located in Tuscany, you’ll find gorgeous rolling hills right outside the city.

4. Nashville, Tennessee

Do you want to spend your vacation surrounded by music? Well, Nashville is known as “music city,” and it certainly lives up to the hype. That’s what makes this one of the most popular vacation spots for music lovers.

The Grand Ole Opry and the Country Music Hall of Fame are just two of the must-see attractions in this city. You’ll also get to enjoy live music in almost any restaurant you step foot into along the Broadway strip.

If you’ve always dreamed of going to Greece, but haven’t found the time (or money), Nashville has the next best thing right here in America. There is a full-scale replica of the Parthenon which houses tons of art, including models of the Parthenon’s original sculptures. This may not be the same as taking a luxurious Greek get-away, but it’s one of the great vacation spots to visit in Nashville.

5. Bali, Indonesia

If an exotic paradise is on your travel wish-list, then Bali is one of the best places to go for summer vacation.

Bali has a little bit of everything within the limits of this tiny island. If you’re looking to party on the beach, then the city of Kuta is a great place to start. With its affordable drink specials, party atmosphere, and sandy beaches, you’re sure to have a blast. Plus, the beaches here boast some of Bali’s best surfing conditions.

If you’re looking for an experience that will submerge you in the local culture, then Ubud should be on your list. Here you’ll find some amazing temples (and offerings laying everywhere), so you can learn a little bit about their religion and how it plays into their daily lives.

The Sacred Monkey Forest (where monkeys get to roam free and take bananas right out of your hands), picturesque rice terraces, and lush waterfalls lay only a short drive away, so you’ll always find something new to explore. The best part is that the island is so small, staying in both Kuta and Ubud is completely plausible. Just be sure to separate your beach gear for better packing convenience.

6. Paris, France

One of the most popular vacation spots to visit this summer is Paris. When people think of luxurious European getaways, Paris almost always makes the list – and for good reasons!

Paris is home to the Louvre – the giant museum showcases some of the most impressive art, including Leonardo Da Vinci’s famous “Mona Lisa.” The Louvre is so big that you can spend days exploring all the wonderful art, and there’s even a food court right in the building.

But, if you want a more authentic foodie experience, venture out to one of Paris’ many restaurants and bakeries. This is where you can indulge in famous French food, including escargot, coq au vin, and macaroons.

If you like sightseeing, then be sure to spend tons of time at the Eiffel Tower. In fact, there are three different ways you should visit it. First, enjoy a nice afternoon picnic of wine and cheese on the grass field that lies below. Then, climb to the top of the Eiffel Tower to enjoy the best view of the city. Finally, grab another bottle of wine (or finish off the wine from your picnic) and watch the Eiffel Tower illuminate with dazzling lights for a few minutes every hour.

Of course, no trip to France would be complete without a tour of a local winery or vineyard to taste some of the best French wines. The Paris catacombs are another must-see attraction in this wondrous city, especially if you’re looking to add some culture and history lessons on your trip.

7. Portland, Maine

Alright, so we’ve talked a lot about wine in our best vacation destinations so far. But, what about other drinks? Well, Portland is home to several breweries. You can learn about the process of making beer and get to try some of the area’s best beers.

But, there’s more to this small city than just beer. Portland also boasts an impressive art scene, and the chance to see some beautiful lighthouses. However, the best part about visiting Portland is the food.

This coastal city makes some of the best (and freshest) seafood dishes in the country. You can find tons of restaurants right on the water, where you can eat your top-notch seafood while gazing at the beauty around you.

8. Boston, Massachusetts

Boston has been rated as one of the best vacation destinations in the entire country. If you’re interested American history, Boston is full of amazing sites. The Freedom Trail is one of the best, and it includes the Paul Revere House and the Old North Church. Plus, there are tons of amazing museums where you can learn about history, art, and science.

If you enjoy sports, then a trip to Fenway Park is a must. There are also a few gorgeous parks in Boston to give you a chance to escape the busy city vibe for an afternoon. With such a variety of things to do, it’s no surprise that Boston is one of the most popular vacation spots.

9. Cusco, Peru

Are looking for a vacation that will give you a chance to hike one of the most impressive ancient civilizations? Well, Cusco lies a short drive away from the Incan ruins of Machu Picchu.

This once thriving city was built high in the Andes Mountains, and there are a few ways you can view it. Avid hikers may enjoy the chance to take a multi-day trek on the Inca trail as this is the most rewarding way to reach Machu Picchu. But, if you’re not a hiker, you can also get to this spectacular UNESCO World Heritage Site with a car and a short hike.

Cusco also has plenty of other things to do. Here you can view several gorgeous churches, indulge in some local shopping, and try some local foods. There are also tours to help you how to learn about the local culture.

10. Sydney, Australia

Sydney is one of the best places to go for summer vacation because there’s so much to do. The snorkeling and scuba diving are to die for, which makes it one of the best summer vacation spots. Of course, if you’re an avid diver, you may want to travel further north into Queensland to get a once-in-a-lifetime chance to dive the Great Barrier Reef.

In addition to the breathtaking diving, Sydney is also a major cultural hub. The Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbor Bridge, and Darling Harbor are just a few of the many things to do in this city.
