Sarchi is a quaint little town located on Costa Rica’s central valley known for its colorful and decorative oxcarts that have been made here for over a century. These handcrafts have even become one of this country’s national symbols.
Getting to this town and exploring it makes a great day trip along the lush countryside. You can also take some time to walk through the many wooden furniture and souvenir stores of the town. Last but not least, don’t forget to take a look at its church. It has a very strange painting (pink and blue) and was built in the 1950’s.
