An Eco-Friendly Lodge with an Organic Farm on Ometepe Island, Nicaragua
Ometepe, the largest fresh water island of Nicaragua with two volcanoes on it. It is definitely a place you want to visit during your trip while visiting this country. But Ometepe is also known for it’s unique lodging that makes it that much more of an experience.

This time I want to talk to you about an eco-friendly B&B that is really close to the hiking trail that leads up to Volcano Maderas, to the beach & to the town. It is far enough from everything but close enough to a small village with restaurants and bars.

This is what makes Finca del Sol a good option for travelers:
- The privacy of the cabins
- The hosts speak English, Spanish and Italian
- It is Eco-friendly
- The cabins where built hands on by the owners, with the help of a team of 3 local guys
- They have an organic farm
- They can only have a maximum of 10 guests at a time
- They offer wifi connection in the common areas
About the Hotel
As I said before this B&B offers 3 Eco friendly Cabins that is set on the hillside, in the middle of the dry forest. The rooms include a private porch & a hammock. Each one can host a family or a small group depending on the room. El sol cabin is for 2 people, La luna cabin is for 3 people & Bamboo lodge is for 4. However you can ask for an additional cot.

What makes the Rooms Eco-friendly?
- Passive solar hot water system
- 100% solar powered
- The toilet uses a composting system
When it comes to meals
The breakfast is optional and it is served between 7:15 – 8:30. However they do ask that you let them know if you are going to have breakfast so they can have it ready for you. Food is prepared with produce from their farm or with local produce. They can also arrange for nearby restaurants to deliver dinner to your cabin.

Finca del Sol Eco Farm
On their property they have an eco farm where they grow the veggies for the food on their menu, including some grains. Plus they raise sheep on the farm. This is also a way of creating job opportunities for the locals since they help by working on the farm & around the B&B.

You are welcome to take a small walk thought the farm & feed the sheep during your stay. Super fun for kids!
This is definitely a hotel worth checking out in one of the most beautiful settings of Nicaragua.
