Utila Honduras is known for three things:

1. Diving

2. Budget Hotels with a sense of style

3. Diving

My son and I aren’t divers, but we are explorers and the fact that we were so close to Utila during our Bay Island trip was just way to tempting for us, so we had to COME here!

Which brings me to another issue about the hotels. Most hotels here are attached to Dive shops and give fantastic deals if you are diving with them. Since this wasn’t an option for us and I wanted to stay outside of the main center of town known for partying-it-up til the wee hours of the night. That’s when I found Colibri Hill Resort.

The tiny hotel has eight rooms in total and is perched on a little hill about five minute walk from the center of town.

Plus it has a pool which is always a deal breaker for my son especially when it’s so hot out.

But what really caught my eye was that it’s a three story building with the best views on the island by far. Definitely ask for the third floor room.

The rooms are basic some have fans and others have AC. They all have two queen sized beds, a great bathroom with hot water and a porch to enjoy the views from.

And you gotta love the hammock!

This is definitely my top choice for a family hotel that is not in the heart of the night time action and a safe distance from the center.
