Utila is one of the smaller Bay Islands of Honduras but is ranked number two in the world when it comes to diving and becoming PADI certified – which is no easy feat to attain!

Utila is also known for a backpacker hang out and budget traveling, which is only marginally true! That is until you visit the private five star Laguna Beach Resort with the only beach of Utila. And one of the best family hotels in the area.

This is what we thought of this Honduras Resort:

The name Laguna actually means Lagoon which is what separates the resort from the main island of Utila. The separation is only a two minute boat ride, but it definitely makes a difffrence and gives the place a seclusion and total safety. And for a mom, this was a huge deal for me. I literally let my seven year old run around without worrying about safety issues.

The resort is split up into 16 private cabins, there is even one that is a 2 bedroom family cabin, that are above water with private porches looking out on to the lagoon and Caribbean Sea.

In the center is a large Whale Shark style pool area and heading towards the restaurant is a white sanded beach with lounge chairs where the water is as calm as its surroundings.

My tour was conducted by the assitant manager who is fun and super attentive. By the time we arrived to the restaurant the kitchen staff had our lunch ready for us and the girl bartender was whipping up some tropical drink creations that went perfectly with the meal.

The resort is known for their diving packages with plenty of activities to keep non-divers having plenty of fun.

But the owners of Laguna Beach Lodge also offer a first class dive package on their Aggressor Utila Yacht. Which is part of the chain of the Aggressor Fleet that specializes in live aboard diving in the top diving locations of the world.

Talk about diving surrounded by total luxury. The yacht can easily accomadote 14 passengers with private rooms and master suites.

The chefs create whatever food you desire on top of having a set menu.

You can enjoy a stay at Laguna Beach Lodge before heading out on your multi-day diving adventure.

Honduras is a wonderful place to visit and is a great place to rent or sell timeshare. Some of the finest resorts in the world can be found in unusual places, and timeshares offer more space and value for you money.
