Carrying a big suit case with wheels isn’t always the best idea when traveling to off the beaten path destinations. Mainly for hiking or camping.  That is why I needed to find something that could fit tons of luggage but would still be practical and easy to carry around.

Searching for a suit case that would work for me and not get in the way with my kids, I came across Hawk 45 Travel Backpack by High Sierra Sport Company and here are the reasons why I thought it’d be a good idea to try it:

Excellent Features for Traveling with This Backpack

1. It’s 45-liters. So basically, it can really fit in a lot!

2. I love this feature – Front-load sleeping bag compartment. I don’t use it so much for the sleeping bag since camping with a 1 year old isn’t that easy (just yet). However I do use it for things that I need to get out really fast.

3. An aluminum supportive frame sheet that fits just right on my back.

4. It comes with a tuck-away rain cover that’s stored in a bottom pocket. Very handy in tropical countries when you simply don’t know when you’ll be poured on.

When I got it the first thing I noticed was the size. It is really big and has tons of pockets that work perfectly for all the different things I have to carry for my kids. Then I noticed how light it is.

However because of its size one of the first things that came to my mind was how uncomfortable it would be to carry it around. I decided to try it and it ended up being comfortable. The straps are soft and it comes with a waist belt that helps balance the weight.

This is definitely a product I would recommend for back packers or travelers that want to visit areas where it’s not practical to drag a big suit case around.

My Take On It:

Another thing I found easy to use was that I could lift my one year old and still prop him on my hip without feeling the burdening weight of the back pack.

The only downside, is that it’s a top load bag. I have to take out most of my stuff to find what I need at the bottom and when you have limited time or your kids decide to play throw momma’s stuff around when I’m looking for something it becomes a bit of a hassle.

However, I know most people traveling with backpacks aren’t parents so this little thing won’t be an issue at all.
