Tortuguero – Costa Rica’s Amazon – Photo Essay
Tortuguero National Park of Costa Rica is called the Amazon of Costa Rica and for good reason. The only way to get here is via canals and the amount of wildlife welcoming you into the village is outstanding. Plus, it’s one of the most famous turtle nesting sites in the world.

We went to Tortuguero last summer and stayed at Mawamba Lodge. AMAZING place! Thanks for sharing.
It’s great fun! I loved it there as well
Stayed in Tortuuero and it was amazing but if you want the amazon you need to see the Osa peninsula in costa rica. all the exotics in one place and they are readily visible. Saw a puma, tapir, and 8 other mammals on a 3 day hike. Worth the trip.
YOu saw pumas and tapir??? That is unbelievable. It’s so rare, good for you!!!!!
