Pros:

Traveling is always easy and fun when you visit a country where English is spoken. But you can’t limit yourself to those countries. Luckily there is always the chance to learn the language of the country you want to visit. Searching for a company that offered a language learning program on the Internet I came across Mango Languages. I checked out their website and decided to contact them.

They were kind enough to let me try what they offer. After going through the lessons I got to the conclusion that it would be great for travelers. It will show you how to express yourself and to understand what people are saying in a very easy way. I chose to learn German and after a couple of lessons I was able to say some basic phrases.

Lessons show you phrases and give you tips on what to say in some scenarios a traveler might have to go through like getting lost, ordering your food at the restaurant, shopping, at the hotel ad in case of emergencies. You can also go back to previous lessons and chapters any time you want, making the learning process as fast or as slow as you want it to be.

Before you start using it you will have to down load a program that is very easy to use. Here you will find all the chapters and lessons. Their method focuses on teaching you words, phrases & grammatical tips.

I was always thought that learning German was super complicated but in 30min, after 2 lessons of chapter 1 was able to greet people, to ask if they speak English and to let them know I’m not a local.  It is great how they guide you in every step of the way through the narration and you can go back as many times you want. I also loved that you get to compare your pronunciation with the narration. Plus if you place the cursor over the words you can see their pronunciation. If you are constant  you will be speaking the language you choose in no time.

Cons:

Although they give you tons of useful grammatical tips they don’t show you how to actually write in the language you are learning. You also work with pre established phrases instead of learning how to create them.

You never get to learn the language 100% but you do learn the basic things a traveler should know. As a person who had to learn another language while traveling I can say that learning with Mango Languages will make your trips a lot easier.
