The city of San Miguel in El Salvador comes alive every November 29 as the city celebrates its week long festival with the largest party in its annual San Miguel Carnival in honor of their patron saint the Virgen de la Paz.

First day of the event is celebrated with jubilant bands music as early as 4am, local and international bands paraded the streets playing samba, reggae and merengue tunes and the San Miguel morphs in a non-stop dancing frenzy.

Choosing of the Carnival Queen also took place in the event as they are paraded in the streets with their decorated and colorful floats while people dance beneath them.

San Miguel is 138km to the east of the capital, San Salvador. Numerous bus services make the journey daily.
