Antigua Guatemala is filled with great places where you can take you kids for a fun family day out. There are so many that it was hard to come up with my favorite ones but I narrowed it down to 5:
Don’t forget to check out more things to do in Antigua Guatemala.
1. La Reunion
La Reunion is a luxury golf resort 10 minutes away from Antigua Guatemala. The place has lots of open spaces, a very welcoming and kid friendly staff, 26 rooms and a golf course. My son was able to run and jump and have fun in a safety environment. But the best thing about this place is that they also offer a kid’s club filled with fun things for kids from 3 to 12 years and even a baby sitter.
Filadelfia Coffee resort is also a few minutes outside of Antigua but to get to it you have to drive north instead of south. All you need is a 10 min drive. A great thing about this place is that if you don’t want to stay here it is still a great place for family day trips. You can choose among mule rides, coffee tours, bird watching tours, canopy tours and helicopter tours over Antigua and its surroundings. They also offer transport to and from the resort. There is also a garden where you will find a swimming pool and a fantastic playground here my son always has a lot of fun.
3. Picnic at a Ruin
This is the cheapest option and a super fun way to spend an afternoon with kids. All you need to do is grab a picnic basket and go to any of the many church’s ruins all around Antigua. What could be better than big gardens and the remains of old churches where the kids can pretend they are explorers and run around as you rest in the grass?

4. Macadamia Nut Farm
This nut farm is located 15min outside of Antigua. This is another place with open spaces where kids can go wild as you enjoy a tour around the farm, sample the nuts, buy and try natural skin care products and have some delicious food. My son loves to come here.
5. Earth Lodge
This is a rustic and small lodge just outside of Antigua in a town called El Hato. If you visit this place you can stay in one of their cabins, camp or just spend the day here. They offer activities such as hiking along trails around the mountain side, they have a games area, Spanish classes, Mayan sauna, movies and books. Then have a delicious home cooked meal before going home. This is a safety environment where kids can run around as you enjoy the view.
