Fridas is a restaurant that was born in Antigua Guatemala fourteen years ago and was so successful that seven years later another one was opened in Guatemala City‘s Zona Viva. This a themed restaurant that has Frida Kahlo as the main subject and serves great Mexican food.
Personal Review

The problem with Mexican food, is that what i enjoy in restaurants, I seem to be able to do much better at home and much cheaper. So it takes a lot to impress me and even though it’s fun eating out. I wasn’t all that impressed.

I visited Fridas the night before leaving Antigua back home and had a nice time. Three of us had some delicious tortilla soup, an order of tacos and 5 beers, total around 43.00 dollars (not bad at all)
I am sure you can get cheaper meals in the streets, but I dont like to spend few days sick at the hotel because of trying to save money. People have the wrong idea of Central or Latin America and prices. If you want to eat well, you need to pay. off course you will probably pay 5 bucks cheaper for a nice steak comparing to the US prices, but a fillet mignon is the same in the US same as anywhere else.
$43 is amazing!!! That is very cheap with beer. Frida’s is one of the more expensive restaurants here, if you can believe it.
We’ve been to some amazing steak houses here that the price for the steak is under $20, and amazing. We were in the States had the same cut and it was $50 for half the portion.
